The new CP1200 printer is a great update from my former CP910. I installed it quickly, after downloading the driver from the Canon website (why no CD). The printer found my wireless link and worked immediately. The paper and cartridges from the former printer are compatible.

Not an inkjet printer, but makes good prints

The Wal-Mart description calls this an inkjet printer, which is it not. It uses a dye-sublimation technology, which uses a large ribbon which lays down the 3 primary colors in 3 passes through the printer, then lays down a clear layer over the top.

Canon SELPHY CP1200 Printer Review

Canon's Selphy Printer is a strange proposition, to be sure. Bringing relatively decent-quality printing on a small scale to a printer that's semi-mobile. Printing tiny images on pocketable photo-paper sheets, making the entire process as simple as tapping the print button on your smartphone.

Canon Selphy CP1200

A small A5 page printer for photographs which can be printed direct from either an SD or Micro SD Card the latter via an adapter but also direct from your SmartPhone via an App as this unit has its own Wi-Fi you can link into.

This 2016 version of the venerable Selphy produces high-quality 4x6-inch photos, as well as credit-card-size prints and labels. It remains the best snapshot printer that's both wireless and lightweight.

High-quality photo prints; Lightweight; even with optional 54-photo-capacity battery; Big tilt-up LCD; Built-in SD-card slot; Wi-Fi support; Can print straight from iOS and Android devices

High per-print costs; Battery option is costly; Print longevity is less than for inkjet photos
