Canon PowerShot SX730 HS review

Canon's PowerShot SX730 HS is the company's flagship pocket super-zoom camera. Announced in April 2017, it's the successor to the SX720 HS. The new SX730 HS shares the 20 Megapixel resolution, 1080p movies and 40x optical zoom range of its predecessor, all packed into a surprisingly small body.

Powerful 40x zoom range in compact; pocketable body; Flip-up screen; Wifi for remote shooting and image transfer; Bluetooth for remote shooting and easy geotagging; USB charging (cable not supplied)

Some noise at 80 ISO base sensitivity; No Raw capability; Lacks a touch screen; Lacks 4k video or exposure control over movies

Canon PowerShot SX730 HS Review

If you're looking for a compact camera that performs better than most options in its class, the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS is a great option. It includes an image processor that was designed for high end cameras, sold in an easy to carry case.

Canon PowerShot SX730 HS review

While it looks rather underwhelming going on the spec sheet, generally sound performance makes the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS worth considering if all you're after is a no-frills pocket superzoom.

Excellent zoom range for such a small body; Generally good response in operation; Effective image stabilization; Sound autofocus performance; Sturdy build quality

LCD not touch sensitive; Average quality video (and limited to Full HD; No USB cable provided; No electronic level; No viewfinder; No raw shooting (offered on some rivals

Made in Japan. The engine noise when zooming is now completely gone when filming! Previously, one could not zoom at all with camera cameras when filmed because the noise of the engine was totally sad.

Impressive at first look

Well designed body, very easy to handle, seems solidly built. Focus and zoom are excellent, images are clear. We wanted a larger sensor camera (Panasonic Lumix

Did I say Decent

Decent point and shoot for people who don't want to think about camera settings and just take pictures with a decent zoom. Selfie feature - in that the screen flips visible from the front.

Great point and shoot

We biught this camer and two days later took it to the rain forests of Peru. We were amazed at how we could take clear pictures of animals 40-50 foot up I. The trees. We are still exploring the various features and are very happy with the results. It's small size makes it easy to transport
