Be aware they only have Japanese versions of this camera that they try to hide underneath their label. I called up Canon and the difference in the Japan version is that it will cause technical issues trying to connect to US wifi and there is no warranty outside of Japan.

a travel zoom seems like the perfect camera, with lots of optical zoom, compact bodies, and reasonable prices... but as the old saying goes: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Unfortunately, we may have reached that point with the new Canon PowerShot SX720 HS (MSRP $379.99).

The Canon SX720 HS is a compact camera with a 40x zoom lens, smashing the record of 30x jointly held by Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony. This is great news for people who like to shoot distant subjects but who don't want to lug a bulky camera around.

Long story short, if you need a ton of zoom in a small package the older Canon PowerShot SX710 HS , Nikon Coolpix S9900 , and Panasonic Lumix ZS60 are all better values than the SX720 HS.

I wanted to be able to zoom in on objects and post to Facebook sometimes. The zoom seems fine. The Facebook connectivity, which was advertised when I bought the phone yesterday, has been discontinued. I will have to send photos to my phone and then upload. It is annoying.

I just got the SX 720 HS on sale as an older model, the zoom is much smoother in video than the 700, the extra zoom is also a plus. Cant really do better than this in a pocket camera at this price point, flash even works well. Well engineered package.

This is a small inexpensive digital camera that I bought especially for holiday photos where my mobile phone camera is not enough; It has a fantastic zoom that produces really clear photos.

When the app on my phone updated i had to redo the links to the camera which was frustrating at the time; I managed it using my home wifi but couldn't work it out using blue tooth
