I wanted to be able to zoom in on objects and post to Facebook sometimes. The zoom seems fine. The Facebook connectivity, which was advertised when I bought the phone yesterday, has been discontinued. I will have to send photos to my phone and then upload. It is annoying.

I just got the SX 720 HS on sale as an older model, the zoom is much smoother in video than the 700, the extra zoom is also a plus. Cant really do better than this in a pocket camera at this price point, flash even works well. Well engineered package.

Be aware they only have Japanese versions of this camera that they try to hide underneath their label. I called up Canon and the difference in the Japan version is that it will cause technical issues trying to connect to US wifi and there is no warranty outside of Japan.

Generally works OK and optically good. My previous one was a 280. The 720 has a longer zoom range but tends to focus more slowly. Macro is fine but using zoom for getting in to small objects close by isn't as good - on the 280 you could use full zoom at 1 metre, on the 720 you have to be 2 metres...

Newer model SX730 is out, with flip LCD screen, mode dial on top, but costs 3-4K more, so would be worth buying on good deals and as stocks last. Will update review with more usage, initial feedback Came with Lexar 8GB class 10 card included in box. Pouch is ok. No data cable.

Just bought this camera for my husband he loves it, the zoom on it is amazing, its compact and has so many different features, the video recording is great its an all round excellent camera
