A fairly high-end pocket compact with plenty of megapixels giving lots of potential for cropping eminently useful pictures from quite small parts of the original image, this camera is heavier than expected for one of its size and is fitted with a GPS and with WiFi to transfer images to your laptop,

A great buy; the lens covers a fantastically wide angle and the 20x zoom has produced some fine wild life shots. I now prefer it to my SLR. Compact enough to fit into any pocket. Yes, I love it.
I bought the SX280 HS in Red for my wife to replace my old PS S2IS which had seen good service. Have used the camera briefly and it lives up to expectations, great 20x zoom brings everything in close although you do need to brace the camera at full zoom as any shake is exaggerated.

For such an inexpensive camera, the Canon SX280 offers a lot. Its 20x zoom lens (25 mm to 500 mm) equals the best in its class. GPS and Wi-Fi -- usually found on pricier cameras -- come standard. The SX280 offers manual controls (although not a full set), but no RAW mode.

I sent the camera in and they just sent me an E-mail that they were going to exchange my "new" hardly used camera with a used one. I called them to complain, but they told me that that's they way they do things. Also, the used camera has the same serial number sequence that has problems.

I've owned about 6 Powershots; This one was out of focus for about half the photos and videos from day one; I pre-ordered it because I wanted to have it for my vacation in Cancun.
I love this series of cameras, but the flashing battery light after only a couple of minutes of video make it unusable for me. Check that, it is just plain defective since HD video is one of it's main touted features.
