Canon EOS RP review: Full-frame mirrorless goes affordable

There's little doubt that the future of Canon's advanced amateur and pro market lies in the R series, and the RP offers an affordable route into the system. Much as the EOS 300D – Canon's first sub-£1000 DSLR – was for the EOS range in 2003.
Pros:
  • Great camera for the price
  • Solid AF and metering performance
  • Top noise control in high ISO
  • Touchscreen control
Cons:
  • Poor battery life
  • Cropped 4K capture
  • Smaller body and grip - some lenses aren't well balanced
  • Current lack of affordable lenses

The new Canon EOS RP is a full frame camera that shoots 4k and has a fully articulating screen and it's only $1300. It does have its flaws, but for that money, its a great buy. We got our hands on the camera before the announcement and put it through the paces to evaluate it for you!
