Canon EOS M6 Mark II

The Canon M6 Mark II is the latest and most powerful camera in Canon's "EOS M" series of APS-C mirrorless cameras. It is the successor of the EOS M6. It has a new 32.5 MP APS-C sensor, currently the highest of all APS-C sensors.

This camera was announced on August 28. There are two colors to choose from black and silver.

The exterior is similar to its predecessor M6, although it's slightly bigger with an improved grip. It has minor design tweaks, but there are some big improvements on the inside. Its CMOS sensor reaches a resolution of 32.5 MP, which is higher than M6's 24.2 MP sensor. Furthermore, it sports a DIGIC 8 image processor compared to DIGIC 7 on its predecessor. It has 143 AF points, while the predecessor only possesses 49 AF points. The continuous shooting speed is up to 14 fps, while 6 fps on its predecessor. Finally, this camera has eye detection.

Canon EOS M6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera with 15-45mm Lens M6IIKISB review

Although Canon has opted to use the Mark II badge rather than EOS M7, the M6 Mark II makes some significant steps up from the EOS M6. In most respects, I’m very impressed by what the Canon EOS M6 Mark II can do.

Canon EOS M6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera with 15-45mm Lens M6IIKISB review

I absolutely love the hardware and taking videos was much better than I expected, but my experience with photos wasn't as clean as I hoped it would be.

Exceptional build-quality; Convenient size; Great 4K video shooting

Not weather-proofed; Pricey; Photos could be better

Canon EOS M6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera with 15-45mm Lens M6IIKISB review

The Canon EOS M6 Mark II is a great mirrorless camera, but it would be even better with a built-in viewfinder. The Canon EOS M6 Mark II is an appealing camera thanks to its image quality and high-speed performance.

Good image quality, Speedy performance, Easy to use

No built-in electronic viewfinder, No in-body image stabilization, Slow native lenses

Coming a year after Canon came up with its RF-mount mirrorless cameras , the new M system is yet another option from the Japanese camera maker in a growing mirrorless camera market.

Canon EOS M6 Mark II Camera Review: Big Megapixels in a Small Package

I've been intrigued by Canon's EOS M6 mirrorless camera ever since a trip to Florida last year when I saw a YouTuber vlogging with it. I was impressed by the Canon M6's compact size as well as the quality of the video footage he created when I viewed it later.

Canon EOS M6 Mark II Review

The Canon EOS M6 II features a 32.5mp APS-C CMOS sensor, the highest resolution APS-C sensor available in any camera, and the same sensor as found in the Canon EOS 90D DSLR . The sensor and camera give high resolution, high-speed continuous shooting at 14fps, as well as uncropped 4K video recording,...

32mp APS-C CMOS sensor; High-speed continuous shooting; Fast Auto-focus system; Easy to use with built-in help; Excellent colour reproduction; Easy to use touch-screen and controls; In-camera raw processing

Only 8 EF-M lenses available from Canon; Kit lens is soft unless stopped down; Lack of effective optical image stabilisation for video; Lacks built-in EVF

Canon EOS M6 Mark II

It's for those reasons we continue to recommend the Fujifilm X-T30 and Sony a6400 more highly for photographers shopping for a mirrorless camera. The M6 Mark II itself isn't too far behind, and if Canon can better support it with native lens options, its appeal should broaden.

High-resolution 32.5MP sensor; 14fps burst rate; Quick, accurate autofocus; Face and eye detection; Flip-up LCD; 4K video; Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

EVF isn't built in; Sensor isn't stabilized; Native lens library lacks premium options; Dumbed-down video options; Pricey
