Canon EOS 60D Review

The successor to the EOS 50D brings higher resolution, a handy swiveling LCD, and surprising performance even at high ISO speeds.
Pros:
  • Excellent color accuracy
  • You can actually shoot at 12,800 ISO
  • Vari-angle LCD a real plus
  • Superior battery life
Cons:
  • Still not a fan of DSLR HD video
  • focusing is a hassle, "Warm" indoor images with Auto White Balance, Puzzling Multi-control dial

The Canon EOS 60D is an excellent mid-range camera, sitting in between the Canon EOS 550D and the EOS 7D. If you're looking to step up from an entry-level DSLR, it's well worth a look.
Pros:
  • The Canon EOS 60D delivers absolutely stunning quality when it comes to photographs
  • and it's good enough to please both amateurs and semi-professionals alike
  • Along with delivering nearly 18 megapixels
  • the EOS 60D features HD video recording
  • letting you create your own movies on the go.
Cons:
  • Where the Canon EOS 50D – the 60D's ancestor – features a magnesium casing, the EOS 60D is constructed from plastic
  • It's still tough enough for daily use, but it's a shame that quality has been cut slightly

Canon EOS 60D

Replacing the popular Canon EOS 50D , Canon's latest 60D has a whole lot to live up to. Reviving the vari-angle screen for DSLRs of this level seems to be a significant focus point, not least that none of the competition at this price-point offer such a feature.
Pros:
  • Image quality
  • vari-angle LCD
Cons:
  • Limited updates over 50D
  • not a tough build

Review: Canon EOS 60D DSLR camera

(1 items) Canon tends to be conservative with its DSLR upgrades, but it has made a big departure from the norm with the release of the EOS 60D. The 60D ($1100, body only) is a new class of Canon DSLR that's quite different from Canon's EOS 50D and other existing models.
Pros:
  • Vari Angle LCD
  • Wireless flash control built in
  • Superb video
  • external mic jack
  • and audio control
  • In-camera raw processing and image resizing
  • Extensive software bundle included
  • Good battery performance
  • Excellent image quality
  • even at high ISO settings
Cons:
  • Poor Auto White balance under tungsten lighting
  • Slow focusing in Live View
  • Clumsy access to Movie mode

Sitting in-between the Canon 600D and EOS 7D in Canon's current lineup, the Canon 60D features a polycarbonate body rather than a magnesium alloy type, meaning the exterior doesn't share the same solid, durable feel as some of its closest rivals, but that said, the handgrip is well moulded and feels

Canon EOS 60D with 18-135mm lens

Superior ergonomics – particularly the bigger viewfinder and articulated screen – make this a shrewd choice for Canon upgraders willing to look beyond the 550D.

Canon EOS 60D review

It's only natural to view the Canon 60D as a replacement for the semi-pro EOS 50D . As well as following on in typical numerical sequence, Canon also pronounced the EOS 50D obsolete at the same time as launching the new camera.

Canon EOS 60D Review

We've come to expect follow-on cameras to generally out-do the camera they're replacing features-wise, and the 60D follows suit in most cases compared to the 50D. Sensor resolution is up and an HD video capability exists where none did before.
Pros:
  • Swiveling monitor
  • Excellent image quality
  • Great high ISO performance
Cons:
  • Slow AF in video mode
  • Awkward mode dial
  • No continuous video AF
