To say the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV has some big shoes to fill is a bit of an understatement. What started off with the 5D as the 'entry-level' full-frame option morphed into a high-resolution stills and video hybrid with the Mark II edition.

Professionals and enthusiasts looking for a durable; no-nonsense camera for portraits; events; studio work; landscapes; photojournalism; quick video grabs and some sports

Those that need the ultimate in durability and speed for harsh environments and fast action photography; as well as those that need a more robust video toolkit

Canon EOS 5D mark IV review

If there's one thing advanced enthusiasts and pro photographers are going to lust after this year, the 5D Mark IV is it. And with good reason: It's not necessarily an all-singing, all-dancing model, but what it does, it does extremely well.

Genuine improvements like touchscreen control; Dual pixel RAW is incredible (when it works; Fantastic video and still photo quality

New features mean a higher debut price; Some bugs to iron out in dual pixel RAW

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV review: The 30-megapixel monster

Canon has stepped things up a gear in recent years by leading with higher-resolution DSLR cameras. It had long been said that the 24-megapixel mark would be the company's limit until lenses could make the best of the capture resolution - a concept that was not just slightly but entirely demolished...

Autofocus system rarely bettered in viewfinder or screen-based use; Image quality is solid; Clever Dual Pixel RAW re-focus; Touchscreen works well

No vari-angle LCD screen; No light-up buttons; The 30MP sensor might be too high-res for some; 4K video has limited file types; Expensive

Amazing Machine and tool.

This is a MACHINE. The touchscreen is amazing with all the controls there. The image quality is superb. High ISO is great. ISO 12,800 and even 16,000 totally usable. I have hardly delved into the touchscreen use but a friend did and he loves loves loves it.

Great image; touch screen rocks; Price reasonable for what you are getting

support software is lagging behind because it is so new; To Canon I suggest rather than make software reverse engineer just give them the specs up front so they can launch with the product; It will make your launch better. The battery grip for 2 batteries is way too expensive.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Review

The EOS 5D series has played a major role in Canon's EOS line-up for more than a decade. Over the past 11 years we've seen no fewer than six DSLRs adorn the EOS 5D logo, but it was the original EOS 5D back in 2005 that will be remembered as the DSLR that made full-frame photography viable to...

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Review

My expectations were that the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV was going to be at least as wildly successful as its predecessors were, but that expectation was not very hard to realize. The Canon EOS 5-series cameras have become synonymous with value and versatility.
