For an all-around camera, the 5D Mark IV can handle just about anything you throw at it.

Very high-quality 30.4MP stills; Dual Pixel AF is a game changer for video; Superior high ISO capability; 7 fps continuous shooting; Improved 61-point AF system

Severely cropped 4K video; HDMI-out limited to 1080p; No tilt screen

Canon 5D Mark IV

The Canon 5D Mark IV offers a ton of new features and performance upgrades, but keeps things modest and familiar with its similar yet refined design. The fourth iteration of Canon's popular 5D series gains a new, higher-res sensor, a faster processor, a full touchscreen interface, built-in wireless...

Superb image quality from RAW files; Improved dynamic range; Excellent high ISO performance; Fast 7fps burst rate with unlimited JPEG buffer; High-quality cinema 4K video; Built-in Wi-Fi; Dual Pixel CMOS AF is very good, Very good image quality, excellent from RAWÂ files, Excellent high ISO...

JPEG files look soft at default settings; 1/200s flash sync; 4K video codec is cumbersome; 29:59 continuous video recording limit, Default JPEGs are a bit soft compared to competitors, Dual memory card slots use different formats, Top flash speed of 1/200s, Low-light AF a bit disappointing with...

Review: Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

The Canon 5D family, which is one of the most well-known series of camera bodies, has seen the release of the newest model over four years after the 5D MKIII, and it's loaded with some much wanted and needed improvements.

Canon's EOS 5D Mark IV, the 4th generation of a fantastic and powerful Full-Frame DSLR, features some great improvements and long-awaited updates for this professional level camera.

Incredible image quality in all shooting modes; with easily adjustable settings and color profiles; Very low noise relative to ISO settings throughout ISO range · Outstanding speed in both image capture and AF; GPS and WiFi add some great accessibility without adding extra attachments; 4K video...

Very large body, 4K video requires CF UDMA7 (100MB/sec. or faster); SD UHS-I (90MB/sec. or higher) - New cards to purchase, Screen does not tilt or swivel, which would be helpful when shooting video at difficult angles, $3,500 is out of most price ranges

Grey market camera. Do Not buy.

I received a grey market camera with a different charger then the Canadian versions. It was also an open box that originally came with the kit lens. No warranty card came with the camera. I promptly returned the item.

Incredible kit

I debated for years getting a 5D series Canon, but I finally took the plunge with the Mark IV. And I wish I had done it earlier. True to form Canon don't do really well with instructions or guides, but there are plenty of valuable online resources.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

Canon's 5D Mark IV is a top performer – but you'll be paying a premium for it. Top-notch images are promised from this camera, which will be all too familiar to existing users of the or . It features a new sensor, with 30.4 megapixels, and like its predecessors it's a full-frame number.

Full-frame sensor; Touchscreen is useful; Solid 4K video recording; Built-in Wi-Fi

Heavy; Expensive; Frame rate isn't particularly high

Major changes that aren't spoken about much...

I'll start off by mentioning the Focus System. Although it has 61 focus points, 41 being cross type, like the 5D Mark iii, it is not the same focus system merely spread out more and rated at lower light levels. It's a far more intelligent system, the same one that's in the 1DX Mark ii.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV review

While the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV may look underwhelmingly familiar to the model in supersedes at first sight, don't be fooled – the engineers at Canon haven't stood still. Compared to the EOS 5D Mark III, pretty much every element has been tweaked and improved upon.

Responsive touchscreen; Advanced AF system; Live View AF performance; Excellent sensor performance; 7fps burst shooting; Connectivity options

Expensive compared to rivals; ISO range hasn't increased; 4K video options limited
