The Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II is the lightest EF lens of all at a mere 4.6 oz. (130g). Enjoy high performance every time you shoot photos. The optics offer sharp delineation from near to far focusing distances.

I would call it Canon's secret weapon, it's cheap and it's very good optically. You could use it as a short portrait lense on Digital SLR due to it's large aperture and 1,6x50 focal length.

Amazing lens

This is really a great lens, shoots great pics in low light without using the flash, and gives pictures a strong depth of field, compared to a kit lens. Really makes the subject stand out. Amazing value and a must have for any photographer.

Don't judge a lens by its cover

As I read in other reviews, this lens isn't much to look at but the end result speaks for itself. Works good in low light but focus gets slower the darker it gets and is a bit on the noisy side.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • Poor in Low Light

This is an excellent little prime for those wanting a good amount of depth and bokeh. The lens captures light excellently. The build quality is ok, though it seems the body is made of plastic. This does keep the weight very minimal overall.

A great starter prime lens.

This is an ideal lens for the user looking to get into prime lenses. It's plastic, so it's obviously not as durable as a tank metal lens, but it's also priced to be affordable.
Pros:
  • video production

Wow people told me how good this lens was and thought I had to get me one. Looked around and well over $100. Found Cameras Direct and wow under $100. Got the lens and man does this live up to the hype. Takes great pictures and in low light, like it is the middle of the afternoon.
