Very sharp
This lens is super sharp wide open stopping down gains little improvement , Its compact size and reduced weight from its predecessor is a +,If the IS system was included it would of been magic .

Wonderful Lens
This is a great replacement for my old 24-70mm. I conduct Photographic Tours in Lake Tahoe and use this lens every day! From Portrait to Landscapes this lens is tack sharp and produces beautiful images.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
I can't say enough good things about this lens. We own two for wedding photography and they replaced a 24L, 35L and 50L after a critical 2.8 shoot-out reveal this zoom was a better performer wide open then the primes were stopped down.
Pros:
- Great image quality, wide open, at every focal length
- Fast & accurate focus in challenging conditions
Cons:
- Lens hood breaks after modest professional use
- I miss the 'perfect' lens hood design of its predecessor

More Canon Goodness
I suppose the IS is not needed in a wider lens due to the focal length, but I can see it being useful at 70mm.
Pros:
- Typical canon sharpness build quality and reliability
- I have all canon glass and this purchase recently is one of the few lenses I didnt have to bridge the gap between the ultra wide and the super long stuff

- No IS

Best lens ever!
I am a wedding photographer, so I need a really good lens for my photography. If you buy this you won't be disappointed! I can now shoot at higher iso levels without too much sharpness being lost and the image being too noisy. Colours are much better too now!

The primary lens
If you can only have one lens this is the one. I keep it on my camera as primary. The best investment ever made.

Fantastic, worth the money!
I had the same lens from a competitor off brand and had such inconsistent results, I decided to go all in on this lens. So happy I did. Worth all the money. I shoot a lot of low light, action events and have been totally happy with it.

- Consistent Output
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Nice Bokeh
- Strong Construction

Really Nice Lens but ...expensive
I have enjoyed using this high quality lens. The pics look amazing and sharp. It does not have IS but has been a joy to use.

CANON EF 24-70 mm f/2.8L II USM Standard Zoom Lens
Pros:
- It's just a beautiful quality piece of glass
- no noticeable lens distortion or aberration - expensive but you get what you pay for with Canon..
Cons:
- Very expensive

I use the lens on my 5d MkIII and there is a noticeable difference between it and my Tamron equivalent that I'd been using for 3 years. The Tamron 24x70 has stabilization and I still get better results with this Canon lens in comparison.
