An Expensive Disappointment

Given the price of this lens, the lack of Image Stabilization is an unforgivable omission. If you read the Canon propaganda, it says that they skipped I.S. on this lens in the name of image quality; that adding I.S. would have somehow made it worse. Iu2019m not buying that argument.

Superb Sharp and quick

I owned the 1st 24-70 f/2.8, I believe I had a softer sample as they had quite a range of variation in them, however this version is loads better. It is almost as sharp as my macro, even wide open, which is unheard of for a zoom.
Pros:
  • Sharp
  • Fast AF
  • Excellent General purpose and portrait lens
  • weather resistant
Cons:
  • Price
  • though its worth it in my opinion
  • filter size makes for expensive filters

Overall good. Despite it is not brand new

This lens is incredible well designed and built. If you are looking for a canon standard zoom lens, it is the right choice. The only disadvantage for this lens is its price. It has very solid body and quite good IQ (compared with the former version, and it is far more greater than 24-105L).

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM L II - Full Format Review / Test Report

The build quality of this lens is exceptional thanks to a tightly assembled combination of metal and - mostly - high quality plastic parts. Both zoom and focus ring operate smoothly. The lens is designed to survive in harsh conditions due to sealings against dust and moisture.

  • Bulky

Nice Product

Pictures quality is good and macro function is awesome. I would say best buy for this range. Only problem is, a tripod is must since there is no IS/VR system, can?t expect professional level output tough, auto focus works fantastic in both modes. The price is worth it.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Review

The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens is the company's top-end standard zoom; it's pricey, but a solid performer. With a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range, very good optical performance, and a fairly compact design, the lens pairs well with full-frame Canon cameras. Its wide angle to short telephoto zoom range also makes it a good choice for serious hobbyists in search of a walkaround lens. It's on the pricey side, and if you can live with an f/4 lens you might be better served by the less expensive Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM($1,099.00 at Amazon). The lens($1,899.00 at Amazon) measures 4.4 by 3.5 inches (HD), has a large front element that requires 82mm filters, and weighs in at a hefty 1.8 pounds. It's fairly squat when set to 24mm, but it does telescope when zoomed. There's a switch to lock it into the 24mm position for storage, as well as a switch to change between manual and autofocus operation. The zoom ring is at the base of the lens and is covered with ridged rubber; it's comf...
