The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is the kind of lens that's always going to be held up to high scrutiny - it's the company's flagship standard zoom for professional photographers, and is expected to deliver top-notch results under all conditions. Happily, that's exactly what it does.
Pros:
  • Superb
  • almost flawless optics
  • Impressive flare resistance
  • Fast
  • silent
  • and accurate autofocus
  • Excellent build quality including weathersealing
Cons:
  • Unpleasant vignetting in the 50-70mm region at F2.8 on full frame
  • Noticeably lower image quality at close focus distances
  • No image stabilisation
  • Very expensive

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM review

The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a near-flawless lens with optics that come very close to matching a set of top-quality primes. With fast, accurate autofocus and weathersealed construction, it's difficult to find any really serious faults at all.
Pros:
  • Professional and serious enthusiast photographers looking for the best possible optics in an 'everyday' standard zoom lens.
Cons:
  • Photographers who shoot a lot at close focus distances

Nice Product

Pictures quality is good and macro function is awesome. I would say best buy for this range. Only problem is, a tripod is must since there is no IS/VR system, can?t expect professional level output tough, auto focus works fantastic in both modes. The price is worth it.

An Expensive Disappointment

Given the price of this lens, the lack of Image Stabilization is an unforgivable omission. If you read the Canon propaganda, it says that they skipped I.S. on this lens in the name of image quality; that adding I.S. would have somehow made it worse. Iu2019m not buying that argument.

Superb Sharp and quick

I owned the 1st 24-70 f/2.8, I believe I had a softer sample as they had quite a range of variation in them, however this version is loads better. It is almost as sharp as my macro, even wide open, which is unheard of for a zoom.
Pros:
  • Sharp
  • Fast AF
  • Excellent General purpose and portrait lens
  • weather resistant
Cons:
  • Price
  • though its worth it in my opinion
  • filter size makes for expensive filters
