I love this lens! I use it on a Rebel GII and 20D. I've gotten some great shots in low light concerts at 1/60 second and somewhat lower with a monopod. Not too heavy but solid. Autofocus is very quite and easily adjusted.

Great Lens!
Fast lens and very sharp. This is a gem in the Canon line at the prices it can be had for. This lens works great for shooting baseball and football games for children. Line up on first base and you can capture great images of runners coming to first and second base stealing/sliding action.
Pros:
- Fast
- inexpensive
- sharp
Cons:
- None I can find

What's not to like?
I rented this lens for a week as part of the seemingly never-ending learning process. I may end up passing on this lens ONLY because as it turns out, the focal length may not be what I truly need.
Pros:
- focus accuracy & speed
- colour saturation
Cons:
- Not as long as you might hope
- but this isn't a super telephoto anyway

L series quality for a Low price.
Awesome value for the price. Used it for over two months and have never felt the need for IS, given its F2.8 A bit soft at F2.8(but still sharper than anything other than a 70-200 F4 IS) but beats everything in sharpness at F4.

This lens is amazing for the price. It is sharp in the center and across much of the frame wide open, but one stop down it becomes tack sharp. AF is excellent in both one-shot and servo tracking modes. Takes the 1.4X extender extremely well - negligible hit in IQ and AF performance.
Pros:
- Very fast and accurate AF
- Tack sharp
- Excellent contrast and colors
- Smaller/lighter than the great whites and much more discreet
- Very smooth background blur at wide apertures
Cons:
- None - especially at this price

Not heavy, sharp, fast focus
Compact and not heavy. Use it for head shot, very sharp wild open. Not expansive compare with other L lens and well worth for money. Also works well with extension tube for close-up shots.
Pros:
- Fast auto-focus
- Superior build quality
- Super-sharp images

Well ahead of its time and continually performs seamlessly-
A great, robust zoom lens that produces professional images quality, snapping with sharpness and contrast. If you don't use converters and image syabalization, seek out a nice old, black MAGIC DRAINPIPE!

I have used this lens extensively for candid downtown shots and I'm amazed at the quality of the images. It?'s black and rather average-looking, so nobody cares where I pioint it. Have taken pictures at 50+ metres that I've kept! Took some of my nephew from 40 metres out.
Pros:
- Sharp
- solid
- cheap (It's a great L-lens) and black
Cons:
- Nope
- not really

A Fast, Wonderful Prime Lens
For the price you cannot beat the cost of this lens. Some may say there's no IS but with a lens this fast and lightweight it is not necessary. It is tack sharp and offers wonderful bokeh effects. My only grip is the cheap plastic hood which was initially a bear to get on and off.
Pros:
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Lightweight
- Nice Bokeh
- Strong Construction
