Nice Lens

I use the Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L-II USM Lens to take pictures of my daughter at the beach and other places where I need more telescopic power. I have a Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM Lens and it ROCKS! Between the two, I think the 135 gives better color and better focus.
Pros:
  • Durable
  • Easily Interchangeable
  • Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Strong Construction
Cons:
  • Poor in Low Light

Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM

I shoot with a 6D, own several L lenses, including the very sharp 24-70 f2.8 Mkii, 70-200 f4 IS and the 135 f2. The 200mm is quite sharp at 2.8, I'd not hesitate to use it here, better at 3.5 and top notch through to f8.
Pros:
  • Very sharp
  • very quick autofocus
  • smallish
  • lightish
  • great out-of-focus blur
Cons:
  • A little long for really good handholdability

I bought this lens second hand from WEX at a very good price considering warranty and service that came with it. I use it primarily on a Sony A7R II body with 1.4x and 2x extenders. I bought it originally for photographing small birds for which it is ideal.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
  • Durable
  • Easily Interchangeable
  • Image Quality
  • Rugged
  • Sharp Focus
  • Strong Construction
Cons:
  • None

Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM, first released in 1996, replaces the first generation EF 200mm f/2.8L. The lens is priced around US$650 (as of June 2007) and currently is one of the most affordable L lenses available on the market.

Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM review by NVO

Excellent image quality on full frame, across the frame - very uniform. Rich, creamy contrast in darker areas. And yet it's tack sharp - when properly focused. I expected precise focusing to be quite a problem at 200mm, but actually 5Dmk2 autofocuses it more reliably than 85/1.8.
Pros:
  • Uniform
  • creamy contrast across the frame
  • tack sharp
  • AF-friendly
Cons:
  • Somewhat unbalanced on 5D2 body

Telephoto lens boasting high image quality and carrying ease. With two UD-glass elements and rear focusing to correct aberrations, image delineation is extremely sharp.
