Excellent quality as you would expect
Excellent quality as you would expect. However, if you're thinking that this 200mm prime will have the edge over an L series zoom, think again. When compared to my original 70-200 2.8L, I found nothing between them. I'm talking optical performance here of course.

The glass on it is amazing. A real pleasure to use
Just opened mine and I'm shocked at the quality, top notch all the way. Looking down the barrel, my first impressions...wow. The glass on it is amazing. A real pleasure to use. I love it.

L quality at an inexpensive price
This is a very sharp, well built lens for a suprising price. No, its not that white, 5.5 pound EF 200 f/2 L, and it doesnt pretend to be. What it is, IS a lens worthy of the L line, and 5K less than the f/2.

Canon 200mm
Have borrowed this lens and did not want to give it back. Normally I like the use of a 70-200mm f2.8 but for wonderful crisp shots for available light indoor sports and concert photography this prime lens is fabulous.

Superb lens with fast, accurate AF, crisp image
I am using this lens mainly for sports and street events, such as parades, carnivals, and other festivals. The small size (as compared to 70-200) and black color make this less conspicuous than the white beasts. Build quality is excellent!

Canon EF 200mm f/2.8 L USM II - APS-C Format Review / Lab Test Report
The EF 200mm f/2.8 L USM II is very good within its native full format scope and when used on an APS-C DSLR things get even better. It provides a very high resolution combined with an excellent contrast straight from f/2.8.

Good telephoto, not a zoom
I like the lens, but am more used to a zoom telephoto so it is taking longer to get used than I would have liked. I miss not having the flexibility of the zoom.

Good buy
I bought this lens to take portrait of my son and it works good.
Pros:
- Image Stabilization
Cons:
- Too heavy

often overlooked gem
"Everybody loves the versatility of a 70-200 zoom however if you check, you will probably find that the majority of your shots are taken at 200 mm so why not consider the 200 L 2.8 This lens is smaller, its fast, lightweight, inconspicuous and takes sharp pictures with great bokeh.
