often overlooked gem
"Everybody loves the versatility of a 70-200 zoom however if you check, you will probably find that the majority of your shots are taken at 200 mm so why not consider the 200 L 2.8 This lens is smaller, its fast, lightweight, inconspicuous and takes sharp pictures with great bokeh.

Good buy
I bought this lens to take portrait of my son and it works good.
Pros:
- Image Stabilization
Cons:
- Too heavy

Good telephoto, not a zoom
I like the lens, but am more used to a zoom telephoto so it is taking longer to get used than I would have liked. I miss not having the flexibility of the zoom.

A Fast, Wonderful Prime Lens
For the price you cannot beat the cost of this lens. Some may say there's no IS but with a lens this fast and lightweight it is not necessary. It is tack sharp and offers wonderful bokeh effects. My only grip is the cheap plastic hood which was initially a bear to get on and off.
Pros:
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Lightweight
- Nice Bokeh
- Strong Construction

Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM review by NVO
Excellent image quality on full frame, across the frame - very uniform. Rich, creamy contrast in darker areas. And yet it's tack sharp - when properly focused. I expected precise focusing to be quite a problem at 200mm, but actually 5Dmk2 autofocuses it more reliably than 85/1.8.
Pros:
- Uniform
- creamy contrast across the frame
- tack sharp
- AF-friendly
Cons:
- Somewhat unbalanced on 5D2 body

I have used this lens extensively for candid downtown shots and I'm amazed at the quality of the images. It?'s black and rather average-looking, so nobody cares where I pioint it. Have taken pictures at 50+ metres that I've kept! Took some of my nephew from 40 metres out.
Pros:
- Sharp
- solid
- cheap (It's a great L-lens) and black
Cons:
- Nope
- not really

Well ahead of its time and continually performs seamlessly-
A great, robust zoom lens that produces professional images quality, snapping with sharpness and contrast. If you don't use converters and image syabalization, seek out a nice old, black MAGIC DRAINPIPE!

Not heavy, sharp, fast focus
Compact and not heavy. Use it for head shot, very sharp wild open. Not expansive compare with other L lens and well worth for money. Also works well with extension tube for close-up shots.
Pros:
- Fast auto-focus
- Superior build quality
- Super-sharp images
