The mechanical quality of the lens is truly excellent thanks to quality materials, tight build tolerances and a smooth and well damped rubberized focus ring. The lens has a "true" IF design so it does not change its physical length and the front element does not rotate during focus operations.
The title says it all on this. The sharpness is just right, the color rendition is amazing, and the contrast is incredible. Autofocus is also very fast, which is great because the combination of that and the bright aperture make it a great choice for indoor sports.
This is an absolutely fantastic lens and exceptional value for money. Every single photo I take with this lens gives me that 'wow' factor. Not only are the images razor sharp wide open, the creamy bokeh and shallow DOF it creates at f2 gives a very unique look to photos especially when combined with...
Consistent Output; Durable; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction
The Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM ($1,089 direct) is a prime lens for Canon cameras with a focal length that is traditionally useful for portraiture. Of course, you won't be limited to that purpose when shooting with the lens; it does double duty as a medium-telephoto lens, and a sharp one at that.
Quite sharp; Minimal distortion.
Lacks optical stabilization

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Canon EF 135mm f/2.0L USM lens, the bright telephoto portrait lens ideal for portraits.
The Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM ($1,089 direct)($999.00 at Amazon) is a prime lens for Canon cameras with a focal length that is traditionally useful for portraiture. Of course, you won't be limited to that purpose when shooting with the lens; it does double duty as a medium-telephoto lens, and a sharp one at that. It's not a perfect lens—there's no optical stabilization. Still, the lens is quite sharp, even at the edges, and focuses with impressive speed. We didn't like it quite as much as another 135mm lens that earned our Editors' Choice award, the Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 2/135, which is sold in versions for use with Canon and Nikon cameras. That lens is, from what we could tell, just about perfect optically, and even avoids the green and purple highlights that show up in the out-of-focus areas of images shot with this Canon EF 135mm lens. But the Zeiss lens is manual focus only, and more expensive, so if you're willing to live with the occasional color aberration in the bokeh, t...

It is very sharp , it is very fast , it is very well built and it is one of the least expensive L lenses Canon makes. It is the highly regarded Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM Lens. If 135mm is the focal length you need, you will not be disappointed by the 135 L.
