Fast, light and sharp as heck. I love using this lens to cover the beam routines in gymnastics. the f2 vs f2.8 lets you drop a whole ISO stop cleaner, makes a HUGE difference in the quality of your pictures. The bokeh on a FF lens is so wonderful, it should be illegal.
Sharp sharp sharp; incredible bokeh; great value
135mm can be a little long if you don't have a varied collection
The Canon 135 mm F2 L lens is every bit as good as all the other reviews claim. I'm always a bit skeptical about reviews that gush over an item, but in this case, the praise is warranted. It is a little surprising that a lens this good receives so little attention?
One of Canon's best lenses for portrait work. 135mm can be too long for some, but this lens is great in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. Definitely not the lens I'd recommend for a beginner! on a crop body this lens is effectively a 216mm f/2 lens and that rocks.
fast aperture; snappy focusing; great color & contrast
doesn't do the dishes
This is one of the best portrait lenses I have ever used. I t is a staple in my bag for every shoot. If you shoot sports inside then this is a must have as it is fast and razor sharp wide open. Add to that the price and it is a killer deal!
Consistent Output; Durable; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Stunning bokeh

Professionals, low light sports
Fast Focus; Good value; Quality Construction; Good Quality
Heavy; Bulky
is regarded as one of the best three prime lenses that Canon produce (Along with 85mm f/1.2 L USM and 35mm f/1.4 L USM). The images from this lens are very sharp, contrasty and show a lot of details even in wide open at f/2. The depth of field is very shallow at f/2.
sharpness wide open; built-quality; appealing bokeh
not very versatile (prime lens); slow AF tracking
This lens combined with my EOS 5D Mark IV is ideal for on location and studio portraits and event photography. Great bokeh and light weight vs my Canon 70-200mm, f2.8 and very fast auto focus, with very sharp images even though not image stabilized and all for $999.
This lens has graced my camera permanently since I bought it - it's an absolutely beautiful piece of kit and the additional 2 stops of aperture over the zooms I was previously using has brought back a degree of creativity to my photography that had seemed to be withering.
If your thinking of it. Let me just say this, best prime ever for portraits on a FF . If this is you then get it.
