I bought it for my Canon 40D. No regret at all. It is pretty sharp and focuses really fast. It is very well built but not as heavy as the 85mm F1.2L. It is one of the least expensive "L" lenses. It takes time to get used to the 1.6X crop if you use it with none-full frame body.
Sharp!!!Sharp!!!Sharp!!! Great Colors and Contrast!!!Excellent Bokeh!!
None at all, but I would like to see it comes with IS; The lens hood is awkward to carry around
...this lens is THAT sharp. I took this lens for a "walk" and came back with some unbelievable shots...they were that clear, in focus and super sharp with THE smoothest, buttery bokeh I have ever seen.
This is a great lens, the focus is quick and accurate as well as being one of canons best primes. Highly recommended.
Well, first of all, this is a 135mm lens. That means that, this is somewhat considered as a telephoto lens. If you have a Full Frame (FF) camera, this is the lens that you should seriously consider.
The f/2.0 aperture; speedy focus; and solid build
No IS; but not really an issue anyway
I believe this is one of the best lens for about $1000. Forget about zoom lenses even if they are L. This lens is far better than 70-200L in my opinion. It is very sharp at f2 and even more sharp at f2.5. With zoom lenses you have to set to f/5.6 for better result and f/8 to match this lens.
"Where do I begin! If you are on the fence about purchasing this lens or not.....DO IT! Its unbelievably sharp! The bokah in the pictures from this lens are so ""creamy"" in quality. The background just melts away! I am really happy with this lens."
This is a superb mid-range tele with a really wide aperture. Initial trials show it to be fast focusing, steady, great canon glass. Shooting down to f2.0 still holds exposure and sharpness really well. The depth of focus is superbly narrow, ideal for portraits and some active sports.
I use this for weddings, instead of the 70-200 2.8. This lens is lighter, smaller, and faster. If you want to differentiate yourself just a bit, use this lens. The separation is stunning, the bokeh creamy.
Consistent Output; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Lightweight; Nice Bokeh
I bought this lens for indoor dog sports with pretty poor lighting. My EF70-200 IS 2.8L zoom was just not fast enough and I was getting too much noise at the higher ISOs with my 40D. Upgraded to the 5D2 and with this lens I can use ISO 3200 without much noise at all.
