Idiots at Canon have not upgraded the software for Maverick system on Macs. It still works to some degree but not all features are available. Wouldn't you think that a company would provide support for its product

This scanner replaces a comparable Epson model, which broke because of an inferior design using plastic parts. This Canon scanner uses metal parts where the Epson uses plastic.
Worked right out of the box; The software interface is superior to Epson's; Easier to use and offers more adjustment settings; I'm very satisfied
None
Good at scanning photos and documents, fails miserably at scanning film
Useful shortcut buttons
Could be a tad quicker; poor quality film negative scanning
Purchased this to replace a UMAX. I can scan twice as fast and the results are twice as good. Virtualy no warm up - UMAX had to warm up every time it was used (UMAX hit the dumpster). Scans 4 35mm slides at a time. I was able to scan an entire 140 slide carousel in just about an hour.

Excellent slide-scan quality for a flatbed scanner; Fast scans; Color-restore feature revives old photos; Scans directly to PDF format
No ADF; Dust and scratch removal feature doesn't meet our expectations
