Review: Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Sony PlayStation 4)

When Activision announced that it had hired a third team to produce its yearly Call of Duty franchise, it might have seemed like a stretch. However, this would mean each team would get extra time to refine each game in the series. That should mean improved quality across the board, right?

Awful

This is a poor game & what makes it even worse is the fact at consumers were told pre order on line & get the bonus content ! So I did & i didn't get it . Consumers should of been made more aware that the offer was for selected outlets only so not impressed ! But the smiths toys service is great

Call of Duty: Black Ops III (for PlayStation 4)

Call of Duty: Black Ops III ($59.99) is the third entry in Treyarch's incredibly popular spinoff series, and the first Black Ops title to grace current-generation home video game consoles.
Pros:
  • Many online multiplayer modes and a deep progression system
  • Entertaining, varied campaign missions
  • Fun cybernetic abilities
  • Zombies mode as engrossing as ever
  • Smooth performance
Cons:
  • Campaign storyline is incoherent and goes off the rails
  • Online play not newcomer-friendly
  • Match balancing needs tweaking
  • Visuals are just okay

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Activision and Treyarch inject us this year's dose of Call of Duty insanity. After such a long-running series that always screams ‘high production values', you cannot help but retain some narrow-mindedness before jumping into the game itself. Admittedly, this sort of thing happened to me.
Pros:
  • Co-op
  • single-player
  • multiplayer
  • stealth elements
  • you name it
  • this game has it
  • reinvigorated zombie mode kicks ass
  • great voice acting
Cons:
  • Having a hard time finding what makes Call of Duty unique and fun these days
  • perhaps the game's trying too hard to fit in with so many things tossed in

Call of Duty is a series that has split and reformed a few times now. With two developers working on the franchise entries, albeit each with their own distinct branch, it can be hard to keep up with which entry we are getting each year. With the Black Ops thread though, there's a clear through line.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Late in Call of Duty: Black Ops III 's trippy campaign, a squadmate attempts to inspire players with the good news that the artificial intelligence they're up against isn't as omnipotent as it seems: "It has all these pieces, but doesn't know what it is.

Back to being great

First Call of Duty since black ops 2 that just seems to actually work. Everything flows well. I'm still no big fan on the futuristic side of it, especially the jumping and wall riding, but you get used to it. If like me you were starting to give up on COD, definitely give this a go.
Pros:
  • Gameplay
Cons:
  • Too futuristic

PS4 Review - 'Call of Duty: Black Ops III'

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a dark, gritty future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military robotics that define the future of combat.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Review

Both Advanced Warfare and Black Ops III look disappointingly older-gen. (Maybe a tad crisper.) Facial animations have that annoying rubbery look. Hallways and other structural staples look bland at times or, worse, like wallpaper patterns. There is no sense of wow factor.
Pros:
  • A lot of content
  • more for the single player than probably any CoD ever
  • Including a second campaign with zombies
Cons:

(PlayStation 4 Review) Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a feature-rich, at-times surreal entry that has a lot to offer series fans, despite not always knowing when to say when. The expanded modes, increased maneuverability, and non-traditional storyline distinguish it from its predecessors, and players who have enjoyed the...
