Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Ascendance DLC Review

At first glance, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's second bout of downloadable content seems like more of the same. Ascendance indeed features four new

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Havoc DLC review – unleash the Exo zombie dogs of war

It offers no surprises or innovation, least of all in the new Exo Zombies mode, but most of the new maps are great and this first download is surprisingly good value.

Core, Sideshow, and Drift are great maps and very varied in style and visuals; Exo Zombies reuses the Treyarch formula to good effect and the celeb voiceovers are great

Urban is pretty forgettable; Exo Zombies is fine and all, but it seems a shame that both of Advanced Warfare's co-op modes are straight copies from previous games

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be the eleventh major installment for what is quite possibly the most popular first-person shooter franchise in the history of video games. The upcoming title will be entirely developed by Sledgehammer Games, and the release will be built on an all new engine...

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare review

Every year, Call of Duty gives me an existential crisis. Every year I review the new entry in the series and, every year since Modern Warfare, it's been more or less the same game, barring a few surface changes that only the dedicated fanbase will notice.

War Changes After All

After years of modern warfare, the latest Call of Duty takes you to a terrifying future just a few years away. Drones fight wars, harmonic pulses identify targets behind walls, and death is casually doled out from afar on tablets.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Multiplayer feels wonderfully fresh, thanks to the added agility of Exo Suit boosting. Sadly, though, co-op is unimaginative, and the story fails to satisfy when compared to previous installments.

Massive multiplayer offering; Fresh gameplay mechanics in single and multiplayer; Outstanding visuals

Underwhelming campaign; Unimaginative co-op setting

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Activision recently flew us out to grab an Xbox One controller to play the entire single player campaign of Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. It's now expected to see a new chapter in the Call of Duty series when Fall arrives and the leaves begin to change color.

New engine produces amazing graphics and sound quality; fun and engaging multiplayer for PvP and co-op; Exo suit abilities provide fun gameplay options

Story derails at the end with out of character decisions ; as usual; last few levels drag on a bit

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review

Simply throwing a robot suit onto Call of Duty could have been a lazy path to making Advanced Warfare seem different from what we've played before, but the way Sledgehammer has integrated its enhanced abilities and choices into every aspect of how we fight went above and beyond.

Exo suit mobility; Great maps and modes; Creative campaign levels; Constant unlocks

Exposition dialogue

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

That a "new" version of Call of Duty is going to show up every year is now as obvious as the sky being blue. The reason for quotations over the word "new" is that different iterations in recent years have only differed marginally from each other.

Exo-Men: Days of Future Soldiers.

By the time I finished Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's single-player mode, I wanted to return to Seoul, South Korea, the setting of the game's first chapter. This mid-21st-century metropolis is awash in ultra modernity, to a degree I haven't seen since visiting the economically prosperous version...

Content-rich multiplayer offers a wealth of opportunities to learn the new move set; Effective introduction with an imaginative two-chapter tutorial; Futuristic combat tech and gear are a treat to use; Entertaining Uplink mode takes great advantage of the exosuit

Inconsistent narrative prevents the campaign from being fully engaging; Shallow difficulty curve can make for tedious co-op survival
