Brother MFC-J825DW

Brother has been making neat, well-featured all-in-ones for many years and each new generation gets more refined and useful, though the core piezo inkjet engine is still much the same as before.

iPrint&Scan for easy phone transfer; Fast print and copy for class; CD/DVD direct print

Pale colour copies; Fiddly photo paper tray; Plain paper print quality only average

Brother MFC-J825DW

The Brother MFC-J825DW packs in plenty of features and produces printed documents speedily, but it's marred by below-par print quality across text, graphics and photos.

The Brother MFC-J825DW is a mid-priced multifunctional inkjet printer that offers CD/DVD printing and some Web connectivity.

Brother MFC-J825DW review: Brother MFC-J825DW

The MFC-J825DW sits towards the top of Brother's current range of multi-function printers and as such has plenty of features.

The Brother MFC-J825DW packs in plenty of features and produces printed documents speedily, but it's marred by below-par print quality across text, graphics and photos.

Large touchscreen; Duplex support; Direct CD/DVD printing; Handy iPrint&Scan mobile app.

Below-par text output; Colours lack impact.

Brother MFC-J825DW review

It's not as sleek as the HP Envy 110, but Brother's new MFC-J825DW is still pretty neatly designed considering that it crams a printer, scanner, copier and fax machine into its compact black chassis.

Compact, four-in-one printer; good text and photo output at respectable speeds; reasonably priced ink

Needs software update for Lion and AirPrint

Brother MFC-J825DW

The Brother MFC-J825DW succeeds the high-end MFC-795CW and has been designed for small companies looking for an efficient all-rounder. The spec is the same: a 4-in-1 with fax and wi-fi.

4-in-1 wi-fi and double-sided; Cost per page with XL cartridges: 9.8 pence; Touchscreen; Fast; CD/DVD and Blu-ray printing

Print quality could be improved; Cost per page with standard cartridges: 19.9 pence; Impractical paper loader; Paper jam risk

Brother MFC-J825DW

The Brother MFC-J825DW ($150 street), also available as the MFC-835DW with only superficial differences, manages to largely match expectations for a Brother inkjet multi-function printer (MFP) while also providing a few surprises.

Prints, scans, copies, faxes; Automatic document feeder; Connects with selected Web sites including Picasa and Google Docs

Low paper capacity; No paper handling options; Text quality is a touch below par for inkjet MFPs

good for the price

Was looking for an inexpensive all in one and bought this one on sale. I have been impressed so far with how easy it was to setup and how well it works on wifi. I even downloaded the brother app and was able to print directly with an ipad and iphone.

Brother MFC-J825dw Review

Brother introduced four new all-in-one inkjet models targeted at the small office, home office market a few weeks ago just in time for the back-to-school frenzy.

Inflated print speeds; Average paper capacity

Brother MFC-J825DW multifunction inkjet printer

Low paper input capacity and cost-cutting starter inks shouldn't turn you away from the Brother MFC-J825DW. Its print quality is more than good enough for occasional or regular printing needs, and it's got a comprehensive set of features.

Feature-packed; Limited Web connectivity

Low paper capacity
