Brother MFC-J6510DW A3 inkjet printer-scanner

Brother's MFC-J6510DW is big. Like most multi-function devices it can print, copy and scan, but unlike many it can do all of that using A3 size paper, not just A4. That means it has a much larger footprint – the space it takes on the desk or floor – than most printers, at 54x49cm.

Brother MFC-J6510DW Review

A4 multifunction printers (MFPs) are two a penny at the moment, making it extremely easy to find something within your price range that will have as many bells and whistles as your home office or small business requires.

I returned the first printer (same model) to the shop after it breaking my heart, constantly getting "paper jams" yet the paper was never jammed. Tried new paper even. The replacement is giving me similar errors all the time and the print constantly runs from one page into the next, ie.
Pros:
  • It works most of the time
Cons:
  • Paper feed is constantly breaking down

Good ppurchase

I cannot get my computer to work with this printer as I cannot plug in the USB port to the printer. I can copy but cannot print from computer. Ifeel it will be great if I could get it plugged in.

Too Many Pauses and Delays

I was completely frustrated by the amount of time I had to wait when I switched to Copy mode, or inserted the one piece of paper in the rear feed. Going to Copy mode produced a "WAIT" message of ...
Pros:
  • 11x17
Cons:
  • Processing time
  • Single-sheet rear feeder

Brother MFC-J6510DW

Having recently looked at Brother's all-singing A3 inkjet all-in-one, the Brother MFCJ6910DW , it's interesting to compare it with the £140 cheaper MFC-J6510DW, reviewed here. While still an A3 machine, it loses its second paper tray, duplex scanner and touchscreen.
Pros:
  • Full A3 print
  • scan and copy
  • ADF for auto-scans up to A3
  • Widescreen LCD
Cons:
  • Fuzzy plain-paper
  • black text print
  • No duplex scanning
  • No multi-purpose feed

Brother MFC-J6510DW review

The price of A3 printers has fallen to the point where they're within the reach of the home user, but until recently they've still been too expensive for occasional use. If you regularly print A3 signage, posters or art projects, you might feel justified in splashing out on a home inkjet A3 printer...

Worth Every Penny

Brother has proved to me that they can make an excellent product, I've pushed this unit onto many other artists and illustrators... everyone of them has thanked me for letting them know about product.
Pros:
  • A3 high resolution scanner
  • pretty speedy scanning a full color (24bit) 11x17 @ 600 x 600dpi over wireless connection (avg about 23 seconds via twain in photoshop.) I've never experienced connectivity issues over wireless when printing from Desktop
  • 2 separate laptops
  • or my smartphone.
Cons:
  • Single sheet feeder is a little tricky, sometimes it will misfeed thicker papers
  • To solve this apply a little pressure on the paper when inserting into single sheet feeder, the feeder will recognize the paper and pull it in a little bit
  • Once it's "loaded" properly in place you're all set.

Brother MFC-J6510DW

Probably the single most attention-grabbing fact about the Brother MFC-J6510DW ($250 street) is how much it delivers for the price. One of only a few inkjet printers that can print at up to tabloid size (11 by 17 inches), it's also one of the most capable in that group, and arguably the most capable...
Pros:
  • Prints and scans at up to tabloid size (11 by 17 inches)
  • Automatic document feeder
  • Duplex (two-sided) printing
Cons:
