I have had this unit since 2011 and make an expresso almost every day. This unit has performed flawlessly over the last 6+ years. It also makes a great expresso ... as good or better than the ones sold in speciality coffee shops. Side note: Breville has great customer service.
I've had it for a few months; the portafilter (part above the portafilter) sometimes gets clogged, that affects the brewing pressure. You need to clean it out to get it fixed. Managed to get it fix after contacting support.
OMG!! Could it be any simpler or any better I doubt it!! I purchased a different espresso machine prior to this one and returned it. The coffee was pre-measured by how automated the machine was and the coffee suffered because of it.
It is really easy to use and is ready to go in under 30 seconds. Takes a bit of playing around with granularity etc. to hit the right pressure. Also, I have double shot coffee only and the grind coffee dispenser doesn't remember that, so every time I have to switch it from single to double, which is...
Done some research on this machine before I bought it. And have to say it is a great machine, can take some time getting the settings right. But once you do it make fantastic coffee.

"My love affair with coffee has progressed from pre-ground drip machines to the Barista Express. The drip coffee was okay, good for a quick fix, but left a lot to be desired! I upgraded eventually to a fully automatic machine that ground the beans, extracted the espresso, and "frothed" its own milk.
