Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

At £350, the Bose NC 700 headphones are more expensive than their immediate rivals and don't best them in terms of performance, either. However, audio quality is still very good, as is noise cancellation, plus they look great and feel comfortable on the head.

Very comfortable to wear; Very good noise cancellation; Easy to use app; Great looks

Not particularly portable; Lean audio character; 20 hours battery life is a bit low

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

Bose is boss when it comes to noise-cancelling headphones and the 700 is proof of that. With a much higher degree of build quality, comfort and ANC adjustment compared to the QC35 II model, along with impressive sound and battery life, we struggle to think of a better pair of ANC over-ears.

Incredible multi-level noise-cancelling technology; Touch controls on right earcup are a cinch to use; Powerful sound quality and impactful low-end; Comfortable design - even for long periods of wear

Non-folding design may put some off; No equaliser (EQ) within the app; There's now a lot of competition - such as the Sony WH-1000M3; The name is a bit excessive

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

Impressive noise-cancelling and design, but imperfect sound quality doesn’t justify the significant outlay

Next-gen noise-cancellation; Comfortable and stylish; Crystal-clear; upfront sound; Intuitive touch controls

Lack class-leading insight; Rivals have better battery life; Expensive

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

These brilliant Bose headphones offer class-leading noise cancellation and sound great, but they don't quite beat the Sony WH-1000XM3's in terms of battery life and price. Still, you can't go wrong with this fantastic pair of over-ear headphones.

Outstanding noise cancelation; Fun; lively sound; Stunning design

Battery life could be better; More expensive than the Sony WH-1000XM3s

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

Bose strikes back in the noise cancelling wars with the Headphones 700. But if you come for the king you best not miss, and app irritations stop these from claiming Sony's crown.

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

While not a quantum leap forward over the QC35 IIs, the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 offers slightly better noise canceling, sound and call quality.

The Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 are very comfortable, have excellent noise canceling and work really well as a headset for making calls; They sound better than the Quiet Comfort 35 II, are loaded with features, including the option for hands-free Alexa and Bose AR.

$50 to $100 more than their closest competitors; QuietComfort 35 II is slightly more comfortable; battery life isn't as good as the of some competitors; the accompanying mobile app isn't fully baked.

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

Bose has a lot riding on the Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. Long the dominant player in this space, the company has faced formidable competition from Sony’s 1000X-series headphones in recent years; the 1000XM3s finally bested the noise cancellation of Bose’s QuietComfort 35 II headphones, and many...

Superb noise cancellation; The best voice calls you’ll experience on any headphones; Can connect to two devices simultaneously

Not quite as feathery light and comfortable as QC35 IIs; Bose Music app in dire need of fixes; Accidental button presses are common

“Bose's new Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 offer incredible calling for business-class delight.”

Excellent noise canceling, Extremely comfortable, Remarkable voice clarity for calls and voice assistants, Connect to multiple devices at once; USB-C brings convenient quick-charging

Boost to lower treble comes off as harsh; Requires Bose Music App to control many functions

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

While the Bose 700 headphones don't beat the Sony WH-1000XM3 at active noise cancelling, they still do a great job. This is exactly the upgrade that Bose needed to make and I think doing so has made the Bose 700 headphones the most desirable pair of ANC cans on the market.

Great active noise ancelling; Sleek; new design; Gesture pad works perfectly; Better sounding than the QC35s

No folding hinges; Expensive; Microphone cuts off lower notes so people with deep voices won't come across as loud

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 - Black 794297-0100 review

Bose is no longer at the top of the noise cancelling headphone race, but the 700 is an excellent option with powerful ANC. However, Sony’s WH-1000XM3 has better overall audio, and arguably better noise cancellation -- all for $100 less. The 700 isn’t the best, but it’s still really damn good.

Outstanding noise cancellation; Better design than previous Bose models; Touch controls are easy to use; Super comfy; Impressive voice clarity in noisy places

Treble can be harsh at times; No EQ adjustment in the app; More expensive than some of the competition; Bose AR isn’t a compelling feature just yet
