The Bose Soundbar 700 looks smart, sounds smart and actually is smart thanks to the inclusion of both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. However a lack of HDMI inputs, no Atmos/DTS:X support and a glass top that reflects the TV screen isn’t quite so smart at this price.
Big front soundstage; Excellent remote app; ADAPTiQ audio calibration; Alexa/Google Assistant built-in
Light on bass; No Atmos/DTS:X; No HDMI inputs; Reflective top
This classy soundbar looks smart, acts smart and generally sounds smart. However, some design flaws, a lack of Atmos/DTS:X support, and limited bass make it hard to recommend at this price.
Solid front soundstage; Effective remote app; Attractive design; ADAPTiQ audio calibration; EARC support; Built-in Alexa/Google Assistant
No additional HDMI inputs; No Atmos/DTS:X support; Top is too reflective; Annoying remote control; Lacking in bass
Smart looks, smart assistants, not-so-smart features
Bose's sleek and slim Soundbar 500 is the minimalist way to liven up TV sound
Clear and balanced sound; Choice of Google Assistant or Alexa; Intuitive; rock-solid app; AirPlay 2 included
No subwoofer leads to a lack of punch; No spare HDMI inputs
Great sound, would not work with supplied HDMI ARC cable. Had to buy optical cable.
Universal speaker for using with TV, Video, Music and Alexa My Tv doesn't have HDMI ARC but RCA to optical converter works great with no lag Clear Sound for dialog and music, maybe add a Bass Module if big thud is your thing Great for Spotify or Amazon Music; used the equalizer to adjust to my taste...
Bose’s Soundbar 700 might replace your smart speaker, but it’s no substitute for a properly cinematic audio system
ADAPTiQ audio calibration; Built-in Alexa and Google Assistant; Excellent app integration
Fails to deliver an engaging sound; Doesn’t support Dolby Atmos or DTX:S; Oversized remote control
Premium audio company Bose really is no stranger to getting big sound out of compact speakers. The Bose SoundLink Mini II perhaps started the trend, but we have had many examples since, including the Bose Home Speaker 500.
It sounds good, looks nice, simple to use. Music on lower volumes is good, but would be better with the sub, which I intend to eventually buy. At higher volumes, music sounds great, but don't expect your house foundations to crumble.
