A tale of souls and swords, eternally dull.

Somewhere in the world, there's a 14-year-old in an interminable high school history class who, just to stay awake, is probably imagining a scenario that looks a lot like Bladestorm: Nightmare.

Fun ideas in story and gameplay; Wide array of customization options

RTS elements work against; not with; the Musou formula; Very little variation in stages; Laughably terrible voice acting; Most selectable options have no consequence

Bladestorm: Nightmare

Bladestorm: Nightmare is an updated release of Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War , a 2007 spin-off game from the Warriors series (or if it isn't a true spin-off, it definitely feels like one), similar to Warriors: Legends of Troy .

PS4 Review - 'Bladestorm: Nightmare'

Strategy games are pretty rare on a console. It's difficult to argue that RTS titles are better suited for the PC, which offers precise movement and numerous hotkeys. We've seen plenty of attempts, ranging from voice-controlled games to fast-paced heavy metal action games, but all have been found...

Bladestorm: Nightmare (PS4) - Review

Bladestorm: Nightmare is theoretically a good idea on paper. Take 2007's Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War - the hack ‘n' slash-meets-RTS cult adaptation of the historical conflict of the same name - and update it for the new generation of consoles while also including a new "Nightmare" campaign,...

Review: Bladestorm: Nightmare (Sony Playstation 4)

Back in 2007, Koei released the original Bladestorm , titled, "The Hundred Years' War". An interesting, albeit futile, attempt at combining the massive scale of their traditional Musou formula with the popular RTS genre.

Large variety of units to control; New campaign is decent

Repetitive; Ugly; Pointless

Not my type of game. Controls and game play ...

Not my type of game. Controls and game play are extremely difficult to get use to. Steep learning curve.

Strangely fun little game

Strangely fun little game. Found myself able to pour hours of my life into it without regret. Also, Little Kuribo, popular abridge maker and international man of mystery, voices a character in it. Neat.

Bladestorm: Nightmare Review – Sure, it's Not a Nightmare, but it's Far From Dreamy

When you think about the Hundred Years War, chances are it's mostly a foggy recollection of something from history class long gone in the hazy past. Ironically, outside of a few highlights, that's pretty much all there is to remember from that time.
