BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Review

The BlackBerry PlayBook is RIM's entry into the burgeoning tablet market that is currently dominated by Apple. It faces a stiff competition from the iPad and the various Android tablets that are just now coming to market. Does RIM have what it takes to compete at this level of consumer tablet?

Fast response; Great screen; Solid build quality; Future promise

BlackBerry smartphone required for many tasks; Few apps; missing core functionality; Mediocre camera

BlackBerry PlayBook Review

Overall the PlayBook is a great bit of kit and a worthy rival in my opinion to the other 7 inch tablets on the market. That said, as it stands at the moment i don't think that a non BlackBerry user will get the most out of the PlayBook.

Every tablet with a new OS needs to start somewhere, and the newness of QNX naturally means there aren't as many apps available. But it's not the barren wasteland we were expecting.

RIM BlackBerry PlayBook (2012)

RIM's much-maligned tablet computer, the BlackBerry PlayBook, is finally a viable choice, thanks to its heavily revised OS and a massive price drop. The PlayBook's user interface is beautiful, graceful, and operates with a simplicity that rivals that of the Apple iPad 2 and bests current Android...

Sharp, beautiful screen; Top-notch browser with full Flash video support; Wirelessly transfers files to and from computers on same network

Far fewer third-party apps than the iPad, and the ones that exist aren't nearly as compelling; Doesn't sync with BES or support BlackBerry Messenger

The new tablet from Blackberry, the Playbook is a lot like Samsung Galaxy Tab and is priced in the same range as well. Coming right after the iPad2, Playbook has an edge over the former with superior cameras, but is pitted by the Apple tablet for its small display and lack of SIM support.

BlackBerry PlayBook Review

The tablet war is definitely hotting up now, and it isn't just a case of choosing a tablet that looks nice. RIM, maker of the BlackBerry, is the latest company wanting a slice of Apple's pie with its 7-inch screen pad, the PlayBook.

BlackBerry PlayBook Review (WiFi)

Amongst the slew of tablets that have been announced over the past couple of months, the BlackBerry Playbook has been one of the most anticipated, and for good ...

Great design and form-factor, U.I; is polished and easy-to use, fast performance, excellent display that is complimented by a set of powerful built-in speakers, Android app compatibility is coming

No dedicated email or calendar apps yet; hampered by lack of apps at the moment but that will surely change quickly; power/wake button is a bit too recessed; pricing could be more competitive
