BlackBerry PlayBook Review

Right now, the BlackBerry PlayBook is ideal for a BlackBerry smartphone user looking to purchase a tablet. This is mainly due to the BlackBerry Bridge sync option. However, even then we would advise potential buyers to wait it out till there is a respectable apps eco-system.

Excellent multitasking; Brilliant display; Flash and Adobe AIR support

Limited number of apps; Biased towards BlackBerry smartphone users; Poor implementation of the power/sleep button

The new tablet from Blackberry, the Playbook is a lot like Samsung Galaxy Tab and is priced in the same range as well. Coming right after the iPad2, Playbook has an edge over the former with superior cameras, but is pitted by the Apple tablet for its small display and lack of SIM support.

BlackBerry PlayBook

Tweet Very famous for their smartphones and recently voted as the number one brand in SA for young people, BlackBerry has also, like much of the competition, taken to tablets. Its Wi-Fi only 7" PlayBook is the result and we must say that we've taken a liking to it.

Easy to use; excellent multi-tasking; great video playing abilities

Have to use Bridge to connect to BB services; email integration lacking; apps lacking

BlackBerry PlayBook (64GB)

With its slick design and solid performance, the PlayBook feels like a sports car, but its lack of common applications makes it feel like a Ferrari that you'll only drive to and from the shops.

Excellent hardware; Fun; intuitive navigation; HDMI-out; Good battery life

No email; calendar or contacts apps; No keyboard auto-correction; No 3G option; Browser needs a few tweaks

Review: BlackBerry PlayBook

Canadians are a funny lot. When they are not rioting over a hockey game, they're inventing some pretty useful comms gadgetry such as the BlackBerry smartphone. However, as they say in hockey, you are only as good as your last win and when it comes to Blackberry developer Research in Motion (RIM),...

only works to its full potential with a BlackBerry email account; App-free zone, lack of browser choices

It?s been a while since our first look of Research In Motion?s contender in the newly-sprouting tablet market, and since then we?ve get acquainted with the quaint device and feel out the kinks. In our hands we?ve held the Wi-Fi-only 16GB model.

Intuitive controls; classy design; BlackBerry smartphone pairing

Not as ?professional-grade? as touted; no larger screen option; lacking App World

BlackBerry PlayBook in-depth review -

This tablet malarkey is really taking off isn't it? Anyone who's anyone is getting involved with increasingly mixed results. The latest to make a splash in this convergence pond is RIM, which is surprising in itself as it's a manufacturer who has never been known for its innovation, but has rather...

Great at multitasking; with an intuitive; gorgeous-looking display; it?s also dinky enough to fit comfortably into any average size bag

The BlackBerry App World is lacking in apps when compared to Apple and Android?s offerings; The fact you can only get online via Wi-Fi may put off some

BlackBerry PlayBook Review

Overall the PlayBook is a great bit of kit and a worthy rival in my opinion to the other 7 inch tablets on the market. That said, as it stands at the moment i don't think that a non BlackBerry user will get the most out of the PlayBook.
