The BlackBerry PlayBook: A Working Review

The PlayBook might be the ultimate diamond in the rough. It features fantastic hardware and great stock features, but with a disappointing app selection and a handful of weird bugs thrown into the mix. I can't recommend this tablet to the average consumer at its $499 entry price.

+Great form factor; +Fast and very powerful multi-tasking; +Excellent camera and file storage

-Terrible at sharing media; -Buggy browser and mixed flash support; -No meaningful app selection

BlackBerry PlayBook

Consumer electronics devices rarely leave me feeling this conflicted. I love the PlayBook experience with its fast and mature user interface that's more polished than Android (and I'm an Android user) and far stronger at multitasking than iOS.

Superb hardware; elegant and fast UI; multitasks like a champ; Pro: Superb hardware; top notch display; delightful user interface; solid multitasking; good battery life; full 1080p HDMI out

Rushed to market before PIM apps and email client reader; 3rd party apps are thin in this brand new platform, Con: Missing basic PIM apps and email client at launch; BlackBerry Bridge not available for AT&T BlackBerry smartphones (AT&T's fault), quality apps in AppWorld MIA at launch

RIM BlackBerry PlayBook review - future promise, but lacking today

The BlackBerry PlayBook is RIM's entry into the burgeoning tablet market that is currently dominated by Apple. It faces a stiff competition from Apple's iPad and the various Android tablets that are just now coming to market. Does RIM have what it takes to compete at this level of consumer tablet?

Fast response; great screen; solid build quality; future promise

BlackBerry smartphone required for many tasks; few apps; missing core functionality; mediocre camera

BlackBerry playbook number 1

This is the best os system on the market by far. A multitaskers dream tablet and gamers will not be disappointed. All business with docs to go pdf etc

This is the best os system on the market by far; A multitaskers dream tablet and gamers will not be disappointed; All business with docs to go pdf etc

The guys at microsoft and apple can't duplicate it and therefore campaign against its ability

Pretty awesome

I was a bit hesitant at first, since a lot of people would only consider an iPad, but I am really happy I chose the Playbook. Firstly, the UI is really smooth and easy to use, the tablet is extremely well-built with a beautiful screen, and it surfs the internet, plays videos, and goes through emails...

Price is great; UI is very smooth and quick; Great for videos and music; Perfect size; and easy to hold; Quick and smooth for browsing internet

Camera does not have flash; Not as many apps as I would like

Greatest Tablet!

I gave this to my daughter for her birthday after getting the Kindle Fire for myself, she thanked me endlessly. She love, love, loves it and loves me(her words). A great buy for all the features who needs an IPAD? This is great and and it made me look good.

BlackBerry PlayBook

Six months after it was first announced in San Francisco, Research In Motion's tablet is finally here. But has it been worth the wait, should you be resisting your urges for an iPad, and has RIM with its new operating system got what it takes?

Screen; size; speed; performance

No apps; currently no email; no calendar; no contacts

BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0 review

PlayBook OS 2.0 still isn't quite as rounded as Android or iOS, but it's got everything you really need for not a lot of cash

This didn't appear to be a Brand new Playbook.

I have had a Blackberry Playbook before, and this product was advertised as brand new, it was faulty as the screen was ghosting and the previous pages were showing through, I also tried to register it with Blackberry and I was informed it was not new.
