BlackBerry's Curve 8520 smartphone is too expensive to be a serious contender
The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is RIM's attempt to produce a low-cost BlackBerry. The question, as always when a premium supplier attempts to slash costs to attract new buyers, is: does it make the cutbacks in the right areas?
Blackberry Curve 8520 Review
Nothing rational seems to drive RIM's judgement when it comes to developing new smartphones. In a time when manufacturers are trying to attract more buyers with new features, exquisitely designed devices and eye-candy interfaces, the Canadian company seems to be stuck in the past.- Even though is a mid-budget smartphone, there are a few positive things about Curve 8520 worth mentioning
- The full QWERTY keyboard, even if it wobbles and is made from a very cheap plastic, it may become comfortable with a little bit of training.
- Not being able to setup an email account without a payed Blackberry Internet service is annoying
- Overall, the device looks cheaper than its actual price
- It doesn't offer anything new, and only a small fraction of what it needed to offer.
Blackberry Curve 8520 Smartphone-Best Crackberry Ever?
I can't deny it any longer, as I'm a "Crackberry Addict," and need serious treatment for this disord- Trackerpad
- Light
- Durable
- Plenty of apps
- Charging
- Talk Time
- Average Camera
- Small Buttons
I've had mine for a few days now and it meets every requirement I could have. Yes the camera is basic (not what the phones about though) the screen resolution is below most other phones but it is perfectly adequate.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Mobile Phone
BlackBerry's latest offering in the 8520 Curve is going to give all the other business handsets a serious run for their money, including the other BlackBerrys. It may lack 3G but fares quite well without.
Aaron's BlackBerry Curve 8520 Black review
Despite its budget status, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 appeals to a group not previously served by RIM. It may not be the Bold or Tour, but with phenomenal battery life and superior PIM functionality, the 8520 provides the typical BlackBerry experience.
BlackBerry Curve 8520
It would be fairly easy to dismiss the BlackBerry Curve 8520 out of hand, but it could potentially be a big mistake to do so. The Curve 8520 is RIM punting into the budget end of the market, but still offering the two things that people really get excited about: the keyboard and BlackBerry's email...- Price
- BlackBerry email and internet service
- keyboard
- media keys
- 3.5mm jack
- Screen doesn't show off the OS at its best
- build quality isn't fantastic
- no GPS
- not 3G
BlackBerry 8520 Curve
Finally let's name advantages you get for your $300: There are definitely areas for improvement, but don't forget that the phone was launched in 2009. If you want to try BlackBerry then 8520 is a good beginning.
