Intrinsically speaking, RIM BlackBerry phones have always catered to the upmarket users but it was inevitable that they would make an attempt at the mainstream consumer market soon.

RIM has taken note of the consumer demand for inexpensive messaging phones and delivered several devices that bridge business and consumer worlds. Its latest budget offering is the BlackBerry Curve 8520 that boasts social network access and a full Qwerty keypad.

Great value for money phone
Blackberry Curve 8520 is a great phone. The optical track pad is very handy than the track ball. The OS is very fast and smooth but the display is not that good. Browsing speed and usage is very easy and the OS is very User Friendly. the phone itself is all plastic but it feels sturdy and light.
Pros:
- Great call Quality
- great reception
Cons:
- Display
- Battery life
- No flash Support

BlackBerry 8520 Curve
Finally let's name advantages you get for your $300: There are definitely areas for improvement, but don't forget that the phone was launched in 2009. If you want to try BlackBerry then 8520 is a good beginning.

BlackBerry Curve 8520
It would be fairly easy to dismiss the BlackBerry Curve 8520 out of hand, but it could potentially be a big mistake to do so. The Curve 8520 is RIM punting into the budget end of the market, but still offering the two things that people really get excited about: the keyboard and BlackBerry's email...
Pros:
- Price
- BlackBerry email and internet service
- keyboard
- media keys
- 3.5mm jack
Cons:
- Screen doesn't show off the OS at its best
- build quality isn't fantastic
- no GPS
- not 3G

Aaron's BlackBerry Curve 8520 Black review
Despite its budget status, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 appeals to a group not previously served by RIM. It may not be the Bold or Tour, but with phenomenal battery life and superior PIM functionality, the 8520 provides the typical BlackBerry experience.
