BlackBerry Bold 9700 review Review

RIM's Bold 9700 is the best of the BlackBerry bunch, keeping all the features we loved on previous models and improving on everything else. A better camera, smaller size and cool optical trackpad make it a worthy successor to the excellent BlackBerry Bold 9000.

  • Easy-to-use Qwerty keyboard
  • Push email
  • Vivid screen
  • Good apps available
  • Zippy optical trackpad
  • Great connectivity
  • including Wi-Fi
Cons:
  • User interface is useful but dull
  • Web browser is comparatively poor
  • Keyboard isn't as clicky as on other BlackBerry devices
  • Apps can be expensive

9700

The BlackBerry Bold 9000 was a big success for RIM in both design and features, making it the BlackBerry smartphone to beat on GSM networks. The original Bold is a large phone, too big for some, and so the Bold 9700 is smaller and lighter.
Pros:
  • Good multimedia features and great messaging experience
  • UMA Wi-Fi calling is a big plus on T-Mobile version, Good multimedia features and great messaging experience

  • Solid build quality
  • Landline-like voice quality
  • Tack-sharp screen
  • Longest battery life of all BlackBerrys
Cons:

  • Slow browser

BlackBerry Bold 9700 (AT&T)

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 on AT&T is a powerful, comfortable, and even somewhat chic smartphone-just like the T-Mobile version we reviewed last month. That's all to be expected from an update to the popular BlackBerry Bold 9000 , which our Editor-in-Chief Lance Ulanoff carries as his day-to-day...
Pros:
  • Near-perfect design
  • Beautiful display
  • Great voice quality
  • Robust media sync options
  • Excellent battery life
Cons:
  • Middling browser
  • Buggy video player
  • Lacks the T-Mobile version's unlimited Wi-Fi calling

Review: BlackBerry Bold 9700

Research in Motion (RIM) recently launched updates to its main corporate emailer devices, the Bold and the Storm. As I'm a BlackBerry user anyway, I've been putting both devices through their paces to see which, if either, is worth upgrading to. Firstly, the Bold 9700 .
Pros:
  • Small and light
  • decent battery life
Cons:
  • Mobile browsing can be slow
  • over-sensitive trackpad

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is available from both T-Mobile and AT&T. Both carriers are charging $199.99 for the phone when you sign a new two-year service contract. That's less than the $300 the original Bold cost at launch. The Bold 9700 is considerably smaller than the original.
