BlackBerry Torch 9810 Review

The 9810 fills me with a slight sense of apathy. Yes it's a fine phone, but it's a year too late. The 9810 is without a doubt, what the 9800 should have been. RIM's slow pace of evolution has put the company in a dangerous position, and with the 9810,...
Pros:
  • Beautiful, responsive touchscreen
  • Vastly improved web...
Cons:
  • Small BlackBerry App World catalogue and lack of BlackBerry OS 7 apps.

BlackBerry Torch 2

The BlackBerry Torch 2 is a handsome looking smartphone. The most noticeable change from the original Torch is the more attractive checkered, gun-metal finish that wraps the device. The touchscreen, at 640x480 pixel resolution, is naturally responsive and boasts impressive color vibrancy.

Blackberry Torch 9810

Generally, I would say that this is a fairly decent phone! Within recent years Blackberry has been trending towards irrelevance, in my opinion. Most of their devices seem to be out of date, and they seem to have trouble keeping up with more popular brands, like Apple and HTC.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 Review

If you're a slider fan but felt the original BlackBerry Torch to be underpowered, you owe it to yourself to at the very least, put this device in your hands and take it for a spin. It's a solid, faster Torch experience and as much as we hate to repeat ourselves, is what the original BlackBerry Torch...

BlackBerry Torch 9810

There are now two BlackBerry Torch models in RIM's armoury: the 9810 we're reviewing here and the 9860 that we've previously reviewed. The 9810 is a slider phone packing a full QWERTY keyboard essentially the same design as the phone it replaces, the Torch 9800.
Pros:
  • Screen space and physical keyboard
  • BB email is still great
Cons:
  • Design isn't great
  • lots of lag
  • browser crashes
  • screen lock key is far too soft
  • OS isn't as refined as rivals

BlackBerry Torch 9810

While Research In Motion (RIM) could have sent its new BlackBerry Torch 9810 to the plastic surgeon, it opted not too, with the new model sporting a similar design (besides the new silver back cover with dimpled pattern) and exactly the same dimensions (111 x 62 x 14.6 mm) and weight (161 g) as the...
Pros:
  • Faster processor
  • higher resolution display
  • enhanced mobile OS
  • more RAM and HD-video recording
Cons:
  • Looks virtually the same as the outgoing device
  • single-core processor and 720p video not good enough to put in the same league as todays top-end smartphones
