This review is my tribute to David Cage. I'm breaking all the Critical Gamer reviewing rules! I'm writing in first person, I am paying no heed to the word count, and who knows? Maybe I'll purposefully throw in a spelling mistake or two. I'm a goddamned maverick, just like Cage.

Spectacular graphics/visuals and animation, pretty solid gameplay and an engaging story, Beyond: Two Souls has everything that makes it one of the top contender for GOTY Award 2013.

Roger Ebert once infamously dismissed video gaming as a non-artistic medium, but even the legendary critic would have struggled to put together a convincing argument that

Yes, the lead character was called Ellie and she looked like a younger version of Ellen Page, but she was actually portrayed by Ashley Johnson

Beyond: Two Souls was an immersive interactive drama much like 'Quantic Dreams' previous title 'Heavy Rain'. As ever David Cage delivers excellent writing and a fantastic cast.

I suggest you order THE LAST OF US along with this game as their the best 2 games for PS3 of 2013. After playing this game & THE LAST OF US i would highly reccomend them to anyone. The gameplay is very touching & can make you cry at the end.

I'm not going to decry any of the lower scoring reviews this game received in the press, or indeed in this review section. Reviews are by their very nature entirely subjective, so it's entirely pointless to go down that road. That said, I thought it was a phenomenal game.

Beyond: Two Souls is the latest "game" from developer Quantic Dream, who are best known for creating the murder mystery Heavy Rain. I use the phrase "game" in the loosest sense of the word as at times this PS3 title feels more like an interactive movie.

Firstly I'm going to review the game on the graphics. The graphics are the best I've ever seen on any console, Ellen Page and Willem Defoe play the parts perfectly and the detail on their characters are perfect along with the surrounding locations.

Beautiful and incredible game with incredible acting and graphics. Plus I felt real emotional reactions, especially as the game changes dramatically
