Contrary to populist opinion amongst many "experts" I always find Behringer products to be good value for money and generally perform well. The XM8500 is no exception to this. I am "forced" to write this review because I was unable to post a brief comment on a previous review titled "Vox That Rocks"...
cheap; sturdy consruction
none at the price point
Hey rock stars/karaoke hosts, if you need mics - these little beauties are for YOU~! I feel they sound just as good as my Shure sm58.
quality sound at a great price
this is the best microphone out there for a working soundman. it will take any abuse, sounds great at an awesome price.
Sounds as good as the SM58. Definitely the SM58 sounds flat which will work on any PA setup. But the Behringer XM8500 can use some EQ to achieve near sound from the latter. The price is worth it.
I'm using this to replace the Rock Band mic. This, along with the XLR-USB adapter also sold at newegg, is cheaper than what is sold at RockBandParts. It definitely works with RB/GHWT/etc., and the game will detect your singing perfectly.
I don't know much about dynamic mics, but this one performs perfectly well for my needs; Came with the part to hold the mic and screw it onto the stand

Only one word "Perfect" :) Excellent quality product
Got four of them with a Behringer package PA deal in 2006 with the intention of upgrading at some point. I've tried Shure 58s, Sampson Q8, Sennheiser e835, and even an Audix OM6 but always gone back to the XM8500. I just prefer the sound and the response.
If you are on a budget and looking for low cost vocal mics for a practice space, etc, I would highly recommend this model. [ read more on Audiofanzine ]
