11 years and counting

Got four of them with a Behringer package PA deal in 2006 with the intention of upgrading at some point. I've tried Shure 58s, Sampson Q8, Sennheiser e835, and even an Audix OM6 but always gone back to the XM8500. I just prefer the sound and the response.

Excellent microphone, exceptional value!

First, kudos to B&H for the VERY quick service. Thank you!I was in radio and TV broadcasting for almost 40 years and now do freelance voiceovers in my retirement, so I am very familiar with microphones.I settled on the XM8500 as a new V/O mic after reading the great reviews here and on other sites.

Great seller. Good communication. Item exactly as described!

Sounds as good as the SM58. Definitely the SM58 sounds flat which will work on any PA setup. But the Behringer XM8500 can use some EQ to achieve near sound from the latter. The price is worth it.

"best deal for the price. PERIOD !!!"

Look, I read the reviews, listened to youtube clips, etc...I'm a lead vocalist in a hard rock cover band and needed a better microphone.Bottom line, Whether this mic is as good as an sm58 is irrelevent. This thing is under $30, if you feel the need to buy a name than by all means, spend $100 on an...

super strong ... but only Exterior ...

cardioid used for singing or the sound. You can unscrew the ball. OVERALL OPINION At this price, you should not expect top quality.

At 20% the cost of a SM58 it is a great backup or primary announcement mic. If I was singing I would buy the Shure. It is rugged and it feels good in your hand but it doesn't have the presence rise that the more expensive mics have.

Hey rock stars/karaoke hosts, if you need mics - these little beauties are for YOU~! I feel they sound just as good as my Shure sm58.

The XM8500 is BETTER than the SM58 in live applications - I have done compared testing on these 2 mics in different venues - small, medium, and large halls. The XM8500 has a greater presence and less prone to feedback. Highly recommend for any type or level of musical bands.

Works sweet on the TS940S

Having recently switched radios again, wanted to run the Ultravoice on my TS940. As the 940 has a high impedance mic input the Behringer wasn't performing up to its potential. I bought a Hosa 200 ohm to 50K ohm impedance transformer and mounted it inside the XM8500. Performance is amazing.
