The cable-free AirPods ($124.99 at Amazon) ushered in Apple's W1 chip, which allows easier pairing and better Bluetooth connectivity across supported iOS devices. The Powerbeats3 Wireless from Beats bring the W1 chip to the realm of Bluetooth earphones that still use a cable to connect each earpiece. At $199.95, the Powerbeats are quite expensive for exercise-focused, neckband-style earphones. Solidly built and with a great battery life, the PowerBeats 3 get a lot of things right - but at this price point they need to do a little more than this to make them a worthwhile purchase.

Beats by Dre Powerbeats3 Review
The Powerbeats3 are a good pair of headphones, not great. And unless you get them on a good sale the asking price of $199 is way too much.
Pros:
- No skips
- Haven't had any issues with sweat
- Ear hooks keep them securely in place
- Battery life

The PowerBeats3 Wireless is a decent step up over its predecessor, but it's no bargain in an increasingly crowded market for wireless sports headphones. When you have one of the best-selling wireless earphones in the world, what do you do for an encore?

Review: Beats Powerbeats3 Wireless Headphones
In addition to the buds that jam into your ear canals, the Powerbeats3 have big adjustable hooks on both sides that wrap over your ear to keep everything secure. As a result, they're the most stable, comfortable wireless headphones I've ever tried. I can wear them all day without pain.

They're not the best in-ears around from an audio perspective, but the fact they keep going and going, stay securely in your ears and pump the bass will be a huge draw to many. As will the W1 chip's pairing sequence.
Pros:
- W1 pairing with Apple products is so convenient
- Long battery life
- Secure fit
Cons:
- Bass heavy audio won't be for all
- Not exactly elegant
