We're all familiar with the controversy surrounding Star Wars Battlefront II in regard to the loot box controversy and the pay-to-win mechanics that many people felt plagued the game.

Not as drastic a change up as its WW1 predecessor, nor as wild or wondrous, Battlefield 5's deliberative design sidelines its strengths as a simulative sandbox.
Moment to moment gunplay has never felt so good; A wealth of small but thoughtful new systems enrich multiplayer; War Stories remains a strong format for the campaign
The map roster is a poor selection of mostly unremarkable duds; Multiplayer has lost some of its emergent anarchy
T he Battlefield series has long been the king of online conflict on a massive scale. Nobody has done it better than DICE over the years, at least not at the scope that they strive for. What we have with Battlefield V is something that's wholly expected.
Battlefield has been around long enough that you could ask half a dozen people for their favourite game and get as many different answers. It's a series that's been through its ups and down, but despite the rolling controversies and uncertainty from fans, Battlefield V and its return to WW2 is...
Great feeling combat and enhanced squad play; More variety in Grand Operations; Fortifications work well alongside destruction; Free Tides of War (we hope
When you're not in a squad; Rough around the edges with bugs; Single player is largely forgettable; Features not ready for launch in Tides of War
After Battlefield 3 and 4 in modern settings, we jumped back into The Great War with Battlefield 1 . That means that this time, as we revisit World War 2, the time has come, of course, for Battlefield V .
Frantic; epic; multiplayer; Solid shooting mechanics; Looks gorgeous
Glitches that affect gameplay; Thin launch content
I always appreciate a good story and the way it blends elements in a way that makes the entire painting seem complete, even more so when it happens in a FPS. As such, I was captivated by the cinematics, but not by their graphics, but by the blend of story-telling, music and artistic portrayal of...
The graphics; The game mechanics; Interesting approach towards FPS Campaigns; Character customization
Missing campaign bits; Missing game modes; Clumsy controls; Multiplayer matches are unforgiving for beginners
EA and DICE return to the Second World War with a game that is full of potential but sadly lacking in content.
The core gameplay is great, with solid gunplay, traversal, and a useful new Fortifications system; Excellent graphics and destruction effects, and stunning sound design
The game is clearly only half-finished, with missing features and content in every mode; Too few maps, none of which are particularly good; No major new ideas and lots of bugs and glitches
When it comes to telling stories that run the gamut of perspectives, Battlefield 1 's five unique storylines helped to establish a successful new formula for the series. As you might imagine, Battlefield V is choosing to embrace the same structure only on a far more limited scope.
Each campaign feels completely different from the others, Hot damn does this game look good, Multiplayer; Need I say any more
Several features and modes are missing at launch; Frostbite still has its quirks from time-to-time; Why were the majority of campaign missions so tightly structured
Before you make that inevitable scroll to the bottom of this review to discover the score (I'll save you the trouble, it's between 1-10), you should realize that the Battlefield V that is being reviewed here is *certainly* not as good as the Battlefield V that we will have in three weeks time.
Like a fresh recruit, was clearly deployed into action without adequate preparation. And a variety of bugs, underdeveloped features, and placeholder menu screens remind you of that at nearly every turn.
