Disappointed
My last review for this may have been too negative, as it never made it onto the site. I bought an open box S8 that Vanns claimed had been thoroughly checked and repaired by an authorized technician. Sadly, it was still very obviously broken when I got it.

Audioengine S8
We've become quite the flag-wavers for American company Audioengine , thanks to a good selection of desktop PC speakers that will get the best from your digital music. The company is no stranger to the subwoofer market either.
Pros:
- Solid
- compact build
- wireless connectivity option
- lots of weight
- goes loud
Cons:
- A touch flabby
- which means it isn't the fastest

Audioengine honored 3-yr warranty and replaced subwoofer with a newer version so hopefully this one will last. I changed their rating from 1 to 4 due to their excellent support. Original subwoofer stopped working within 6-months of minor use. Sounds good when it worked.

Superior bass and beauty.
A nice little piece of furniture that triples as a work of art and a superior subwoofer for my computer desktop sound system. With a pair of Audioengine A5s as rear speakers and A2s as front speakers, I needed some bottom and splurged on the A8.

Excellent blend for the A2+ speakers
Setting this S8 subwoofer up takes time and patience. Manipulating the Volume-Crossover-and Phasing controls is a must to blend with the A2+ Speakers. Once you get it right it just pops right in for spacious, transparent, and low end sound. Set the volume at the 50% mark on the computer first.

Good Solid Bass
I have the Audioengine A2+B Powered Desktop Speakers adding a powered subwoofer made such a difference to the sound.
