The M50x may be more expensive than the outgoing M50 (which is now under £100) but it's worth it.
Improves on the M50's great design

Awesome. Booming but not overpowering bass, crisp highs. The multiple cable types and lengths have proved helpful. Ear cushions are very comfortable.
Given this is my first go round with Audio-Technica I have to give the M50xBT headphones a nice thumbs up. I appreciated the sound profile these created and at times favored them over my Sony XM3s depending on the tracks. There isn't any noise cancelling but in this case it's not a deal breaker.
The Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT is a closed back over-ear headphone that can be used in either wired or wireless Bluetooth modes.
Excellent sound quality; Very capable Bluetooth implementation; Comfy and well made
Call quality not great; Controls a little fiddly; Could do with USB-C rather than USB- A
The Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT offers consistently high sound quality for both wireless and wired use, making them great for serious music fans.
The Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT offers great sound quality both with and without wires; They have an open sound with enough bass to satisfy most users; The Bluetooth controls are well integrated and the inclusion of a separate cable with an integrated mic is a real boon.
Unlike many headphones at this price, there's no noise cancelling; The sound can be a little too forward in noisy environments, resulting in less natural sound; The power button is in an awkward spot.
If you were a fan of the ATH-M50x headphones, you'll likely like the ATH-M50xBT as well seeing as they're basically the same headphones. They have better Bluetooth codec support than most, a great battery life, and are still durable and portable. While they're not cheap, they're still a great value.

I am not a DJ who needs twisting earpieces, but as a music instructor I must be able to converse and hear what’s going on in a room where I’m teaching or rehearsing piano or guitar pieces. The ear units also fold for storage and transportation.
