Field Test: Audio-Technica AT2020 Condenser Microphone
The AT2020 is Audio-Technica's entry-level, side-address studio condenser mic. It brings the company's build quality and consistency into the same street price range ($100) as many of the Shanghai-made Neumann U87 look-alikes.

Audio-Technica AT 2020
This microphone is perfect for someone who records on the go or mainly from home. It works great in open spaces and does a good job of not picking up background noise when recording. I have used it for some small demo work in public places if I need to record a quick idea or even a voice over.

With inexpensive mics seemingly as common as guitar picks, one must ask, "Does the world need another cheap mic?" But after testing the AT2020 , my answer is a resounding, "Yes!" Because the AT2020 is anything but "another cheap mic." The AT2020 provides pleasant surprises in several areas.

Audio Technica AT2020
Audio-Technica's new AT2020 is unashamedly a 'no frills' mic, with basic standmount and a soft zip-up vinyl case. The polar pattern is a fixed cardioid, and there are no switches for pads or filters.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Well engineered
- Good sound on vocals and instruments
Cons:
- Noise level slightly higher than average

Picture is deceiving
Purchased this product as a birthday present for my daughter. The picture shows USB connection; however, when it arrived, it wasn't the USB model - disappointing.

It runs off phantom power so if you are planning on using this for your computer I would suggest getting the USB version, i have heard nothing but good things about both microphones, Just wish i would've know I would need another device to make it work on my computor.
