I own two of these microphones and have used them for recording vocals, acoustic guitar, amps, and just general recording of the room during practices. These are my favorite microphones in a controlled environment and are the most responsive condenser mics I have ever used.
Pros:

  • Clear Sound

Great indoor mic kit at great price

This is a great mic kit for the music student who wants to record and review their music skills, and can easily be used to create demo tracks. Like all condenser mics, these are sensitive to shock and dampness, so use them in a quiet indoor setting. The included Cakewalk software (LE) is awesome.
Pros:
  • Clear Sound
  • Easy To Use
  • Professional Functions

Audio Technica AT2020 Microphone: Dulcet tones for a budget price

The Audio Technica is a cardoid condenser microphone. It comes in a USB version (slightly different to this one) and a standard XLR connection microphone on review here. My second attempt at posting this review

I tried to post a review before, but I'm thinking I didn't specify I was over 13, so it didn't go through. I'm 55. I bought two of these on the advice of my equipment supplier, who has never lead me wrong before. He didn't lead me wrong this time either.

Great deal!

I use mine to record a 5 piece rock band with a Boss BR1600CD recorder in the basement. Specifically I use them as overheads for the drums and I use the 2020 for vocals. Sometimes I use a Shure SM57 on a guitar cabinet and then put the 2121 a few feet back just to capture a little more ambience.

Vibration Dampener

Works like its advertised to. Don't have a lot of vibration problem in my"Studio", closet, but what little there is doesn't get through.

Beware! Needs 48V phantom power to work

The microphone is great, but not suited for all applications. It needs to be connected to a phantom power 48V (e.g. a mixer with this facility), otherwise it won't work at all.

Amazing Quality Recording

Just recently bought this mic and highly recommend it to those looking for a great mic at little cost. The look and feel of the mic is truly professional and the quality it renders on voice and guitar is amazing. I ran the AT2020 through my Sound craft mixer plugged into a PC.

"Great mic that makes me money"

This is an awesome mic for the price. I use mine for professional commercial voice-overs. Teamed with a dbx286 channel strip, I get really clean recordings that fit my voice just right.
