Review: Asus' ZenWatch 2 is a wonderfully simple smartwatch
T he Asus ZenWatch 2 is among an increasing number of Android Wear smartwatches struggling to find a niche in the bold new world of wearable tech. It's a second-generation smartwatch, but as with many other newer devices, there isn't much on paper to entice.

Still, the Asus ZenWatch 2 doesn't pretend to be anything but a low-cost, stylish Android Wear smartwatch, and at that job it succeeds well. It looks stylish, it doesn't cost much and the improvements to battery life are a major bonus. For many people, that will be recommendation enough.

Asus ZenWatch 3 Review
The Asus ZenWatch 3 is the best-looking Android Wear smartwatch we've seen, but it still falls short of the competition. The $229.99 Asus ZenWatch 3 is an elegant new smartwatch that runs on an old motor. You get basic fitness tracking, customizable watch faces, and interchangeable bands, but the aging Android Wear operating system simply can't compete with offerings from Apple or Pebble. Plus, you need to install up to four separate apps on your phone to access the full range of functionality available on the watch, which isn't at all convenient. So while the ZenWatch 3 is undeniably attractive, it's outsmarted by the Apple Watch Series 2 ($180.52 at Amazon) . Design Asus decided to go the round route for the watch face this time around, rather than the square look of its predecessor, the ZenWatch 2 ( at Amazon) . It measures 1.8 inches across and 0.4-inch deep, which is in line with other Android Wear devices like the Huawei Watch ( at Amazon) (1.7 inches by 0.4 inches) and the Motorola Moto 360 Sport (1.8 by 0.4 inches). The case is made of stainless steel and comes with a brown leather band. ...
Pros:
- Elegant design
- Comfortable
- Tracks sleep accurately
- Battery charges quickly
Cons:
- Inaccurate fitness measurements in testing
- Need to install up to four apps for full functionality, three of which are Android-only
- Android Wear remains clunky

Asus ZenWatch 3 review
The Asus ZenWatch 3 is a gorgeous smartwatch – and one of the slimmest – but there are shortcomings to the circular smartwatch. It’s limited in terms of fitness tracking, measuring only steps and standing hours and offering tracking for only basic exercises due to the omission of GPS and a heart-rate tracker. Its performance is sluggish (and that's being kind) and things go downhill when you update to Android Wear 2.0. Battery life is also poor with the new software. Until Asus can fix these issues, you're better off spending more on a rival such as the Huawei Watch 2.

Though it still hasn't grabbed consumers like some manufacturers had hoped, the smartwatch market is growing rather quickly, and a number of good options are currently available. For some users, price may be one of the key factors holding them back from buying a smartwatch.
