Back in March, we took a look at the ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS workstation motherboard , which, at the time, was ASUS's top offering for dual CPU workstation motherboards. Since then, we have had a chance to see many different motherboards using the new Intel Haswell-EP E5-2600 v3 processors, and now we have...
Bought at the same time as many of the components on Amazon, and Ebay. For my workstation /server. Although dated this product. I expect to last me until, 2023. With a pair of Xeon 2683's onboard.
over all a great experience. i believe this will be my computer setup for the next 5+ years. 4 years is my normal upgrade schedule. the amount of computing power from a single cpu blew me away. 100w, 12 core, and full system only uses 120w with watercooling pump and fans! just amazing.
i had a very simple experience; threw it in and it worked; single 2658v3 ddr4 2400 4 x 4gb rdimm kingston intel verified quadro m4000 2 x sata ssd raid 0 i am also water cooled with koolance gear; the system has been very stable; no issues with anything.
drives are distributed across different controllers; max 4 drive raid board is big but that really isn't a con..; just being picky i wish the power connectors mirrored the d16 model, all together in a row i wish the dimm slots mirrored the d16 model, horizontal alignment i wish it had the latest...
I would go with 4 stars for the lack of some BIOS options available on "gaming" boards and lack of fan connector near top of board/case.. but the connector's a trivial thing, and I don't think ASUS has complete control over what a certain chipset's BIOS options include, nor is it a "gaming board".
