Eventually works with i9
I bought this board with an Intel Core i9-7920X Processor. It did not work out-of-the-box, I had to update the bios using the specific USB 2.0 port and button at the back, you have to have a USB 2.0 device.

Asus Prime X299-Deluxe Motherboard Review
The Asus Prime X299-Deluxe is a great well-rounded motherboard. Thanks to the Kaby Lake-X processor, overclocking was much better than we saw with Haswell-E and there seems to be plenty of headroom to go further. I was quite impressed by the 5-Way Optimization's overclocking ability.

This board is top rate i have used it many times in several systems using i7 all the way to top of the line Intel i9 processors. I used the Noctua LS12 cooler , Kingston HyperX DDR4 and SSD drives. Nothing faster.
