this is a very good product from asus.i previously used samsung dvd writer.it was bought 5 years ago.it has no M disk support. samsung and asus are good companies.PERFORMANCE CAN DEPEND UPON SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS.

Fast, reliable and the extra software is a plus. Best DVD drive by far!

The new type M-DISCs are reported to have properties of very long life, and this is a requirement of saving photos for your grandchildren and future generations. I have experience of even the best CD/DVDs becoming difficult to read at the 10 year old stage.

Quiet and quick. A dying technology but sometimes needed. Nice in black

The drive appeared to work fine at first in both Windoze and Linux. However, 9 months later and it fails to complete burn operations cleanly and is either very, very slow to read disks or simply rejects them saying there is no media present (all OSs). Cheap for a reason.

Would be good if the description of the product said that this optical drive didn’t come with a sata cable. But the actual dvd/cd drive works fine.

It should have been in description that is oem with a dvd that has copying programs. No cables or adaptors or screws like the boxed version would had. Also the pic is wrong. It's an M disk support. In other news is quiet and fast and a aqurate. Read all the discs I put in.

Easy to setup, this optical drive is really nice. Only takes 5 minutes to install and a small driver update. If you're looking for an internal CD drive, I would recommend this one.

Performs well and has good supportive software as well.

This is how it's supposed to work. Plug it in and it works. No fuss.
